I have this one and the spaltaxt and the Rheinland hatchet all three are top notch I will not buy any other brand bc I have had
Headline says it all (wow) I have three helko werk axes. I have this one and the spaltaxt and the Rheinland hatchet all three are top notch I will not buy any other brand bc I have had nothing bt great experiences with helko werk and there products! I live in the Ozark mountains in Missouri and our weather is very unpredictable so the need for this axe was for when a out of nowhere cold front hits ..wich it's always cold bt I'm talking sub zero temps I keep my split wood on my porch and the rest in the woods in the shop so when I might need to make kindling quickly on the porch and do smaller splitting task this is my go to axe it comes extremely sharp out of the box and holds that edge for weeks of use I'm talking everyday use I have to cut split wood everyday of the year from stocking up in the summer to just making kindling and splitting bigger splits of wood in the fall winter months it's extremely versatile I can split big rounds with one hand with one swing a lot of the times this axe will make you look like a pro lol also very good for delimbing trees there really isn't a task this axe couldn't do obviously splitting huge rounds the helko werk splataxt is more efficient bt this one would get the job done. All of helko werk products are as good if not better than granfors bruks I would say it's a tie neither has the edg over the other bt helko werk your getting granfors bruks quality for 25 percent less and any of the reviews you read that are saying negative things about helko werk are city ppl who want a display axe or a certain to show off to there buddy's the ppl who actually use these axes will all tell you they are a great tool you will never have to replace and also show quality bt at the end of the day who cares how it looks if it performs great and again these axes are very cool looking. Long review long best axe company there is period the end

Used for bushcraft and log building
I’ve been using this axe heavily for a while now for log building, bushcraft, and wood processing. I am very pleased with this axe, chops and splits wood very well. The handle was perfectly hung and has never came loose on me, it also has a beautiful grain pattern with proper orientation, it feels very comfortable with very little vibration felt. The head itself is very durable, it came sharp out of the box, I’ve never had to resharpen it even after all the use I’ve put it through. Overall this is a high quality, well built axe designed to be used hard, it’s definitely worth the price if you’re seriously into bushcraft or log building.

Awesome product!
Cuts through oak like butter and has a great edge right out of the box. The handle is ergonomic, beautifully crafted and easy to swing w/ one or two hands. I buck logs down to 8" pieces (for smoking) and this handles anything up to 10-12 inch rounds of that depth no problem. You may have to split larger rounds (of this size) a little off center to get through them in one shot but it's not designed to handle anything large. For heavier jobs (wet, larger logs) buy the bigger version or invest in a splitting maul. Remember, this isn't an axe.

Very Nice German Style Axe
The quality of this axe is superb. It is an heirloom quality axe. The materials, craftsmanship and overall quality are on par with or superior to any other production line axe on the market. The leather mask(sheath) is well made with quality leather and buckle, it is well riveted with good quality rivets and they are properly set. The axe comes with Helko Werk's head oil, Helko Werk manual/catalog and the leather mask/sheath. The axe comes with a factory ground edge. with very little honing I was able to quickly bring the edge of the C50 high carbon steel to my preferred sharpness. The handle comes untreated (which I prefer) and finish sanded with what feels like 150 grit, so I lightly touched it up with 220 grit and then xxxx steel wool and 3 treatments of boiled linseed oil. After the final treatment of boiled linseed oil had dried, I rubbed down the handle and the head with "Fix in" wax from Self Reliance Outfitters and then wiped down the handle and buffed it by hand with a clean cotton shop towel and then installed the leather collar guard onto the handle. It turned out beautifully. About Helko Werk North America Customer Service; In the original Amazon listing that I ordered my axe from, it included a "Metal Overstrike Protector" as part of this package. Upon receiving my axe there was no "Metal Overstrike Protector" included with my axe as stated in the original listing. I contacted Helko Werk customer service and after some correspondence with them and upon further investigation on their part, they were generous enough to send me one of their leather axe collars free of charge in place of the "Metal Overstrike Protector". So, I must report that they are true to their endeavor to accomplish customer satisfaction. In the future I would buy Helko Werk axes and products with confidence based on their quality, craftsmanship and materials that go into their products and on their customer service. Furthermore, I have and do recommend Helko Werk axes and leather products for anyone looking to invest in heirloom quality products.
