Starter Motor
Item received in a timely manner.Item not exactly the same size as unit it is to replace but was able to install and it appears to be work as prescribed. Truth will be know during next summers boating season.

Exact fit
Had to replace starter on 2005 Mercury this product was an exact fit and works perfectly for the fraction of the cost from any Marina parts store. Will buy another one for sure if needed.

I love this starter motor used it on a 60hp Mercury outboard boat engine.

Almost a direct replacement
This starter will bolt right in on a Mercury 40 hp 2 cycle (and I'm sure many others). The only issue is that the black cap on the shaft will hit the flywheel cover. So you either need to drill a hole in the flywheel cover, cut the black cap off or not re-install the flywheel cover. I elected not to not re-install the flywheel cover and it works fine.Would be 5 stars if I was able to re-install the flywheel cover without modifications. Still not a bad value.
