Surprise! They can.I'd been buying this product for years, and loving it. Then, last year, they changed the recipe. They made them smaller, cheaper, with an uncomfortable pinching elastic waste band.I was hoping that after a year they might have gone back to good old ways, but I was wrong. They are worse.The first pair I put on was so poorly made that the leg holes were 2 different sizes. One leg hole fit okay, the other one was so loose it left me flapping in the breeze.Ladies, put these knickers on and you are 3 steps away from a half-wedgie!

I have worn Hanes products for years. these are absolutely the worst. Not only did I NOT get anything close to blue colors I ordered (I mostly got a bunch of shades of pink which is the only color I despise) but they are not consistent in size. the material is thin and the seams are in weird places. I don't know why they think the tiny piece of material in the crotch fits anyones' crotch. The white one fit, the same color one kinda fits, but very tight, the print colors are all way too small. AND I haven't even washed them yet. So perhaps none of this will fit after that.I need these specifically to wear for an upcoming surgery so I can't return them. Only two of the package fit, the rest are at least one to two sizes smaller. I can't even get them pulled all the way over my hips. The ones that are two small I'll just have to donate. Seems like these companies no longer care about any kind of quality control. Just outsource to whatever country will make them the cheapest.

Where's the quality control? I pulled these out of the package and laid them out flat when I noticed the huge discrepancy between the first two. The first pair out of the pack is huge (hot pink). The next pair is at least 2" smaller at the waist (light blue). The white, gray, and light purple are somewhere in between, while the black pair is sized like the light blue. The tags all say SIZE 6, but they aren't. Maybe they should just call these a grab bag. Wish there was an option to show the undies in a single pack were too small AND too big!

EDIT: Wearing this "new" version of an old favorite feels like wearing sandpaper at your waist and at the leg holes. No clue what they were thinking. These are TERRIBLE.* * *This purchase was such a disappointment. I have been using this exact product (in various sizes) for years. With this last order, the fabric changed! It was ... stiff. Yes, even after washing.Originally, I wore a size 8. With some weight gain, I went to size 9. When those started to feel too tight, I chalked it up to shrinkage over time because they're cotton. (I know what you're thinking. I weigh myself every day, so that wasn't it.) Anyway, I got a new package of 9s, washed them in cold water - and the fit was worse than the original ones!My hip size is 42.5. That should put me solidly into a size 8. So then why are the size 9s uncomfortable?- Not all of them sit at the waist. (There is variation between panties from the same package!)- When I sit down, the elastic around my inner thighs pulls very unpleasantly.- And they totally ride up and bunch up in unpleasant places.

I ordered this 10-pak for the colors pictured (mostly I wanted the two tan pairs to wear under white clothing), but that's not what I got. I also found them quite skimpy compared to previous versions of the exact same size of Hanes cotton hi-cut underwear. (I took a picture comparing the two. This AFTER washing and drying the new pair. You can see that the color is NOT the tan that was pictured and the cut is skimpier. I suppose there may be some stretching in the older pair, especially the elastic, but this seems like a pretty extreme difference.) Didn't return them because they do fit, and I can't be bothered, but I hope I'll remember not to order this sort of thing from Hanes online again.

I have been buying this style and brand of panties for many years now and have always been satisfied. There were a few unsatisfied customers on here that were unhappy and some showed pictures of some of the waistbands varying in size. Luckily I got a package where all 6 matched in size and fit well. This is the first time I have ordered them. I usually buy them in the store. I have to say, though, since I was happy with the first package, I ordered a second one. The second one I'm not as happy with. I laid the six pairs on top of each other to compare the waistbands and the one white pair was much larger than the others.......MUCH larger. By at least 2 inches. That is a disappointment. I am hoping that washing in hot water and drying in dryer will shrink them a bit. Also, not that it matters all that much, but neither of my packages had prints. They were all solid colors. The picture shows prints and in the description down lower on the page it says the package would contain 3 whites and 3 brights. I had 1 white in each package. It doesn't really matter all that much to me as long as they fit well and aren't riding up!! But if someone really wants the prints, they might be very disappointed.

Hanes cotton panties for women were once high quality--thick, durable cotton that didn't shrink much when washed (made to be laundered by machine)--fabric that held up to numerous washings and long wear, with soft non-scratchy elastic. No more! These have a tag "Made in Thailand", so that (I presume) explains why the quality's deteriorated to TERRIBLE--because they're made with inferior materials in a sweatshop in order that Hanes can reap higher profits. Well, they won't get any more $$ from me! These are too small to begin with, not the standard size as nothing made in the Orient is sized in U.S. standard sizing (I've worn the same size for years and expected them to be standard size when I ordered), after washing once in warm water shrink at least a full size or more, and already have small holes in the fabric even though I use an eco-friendly mild laundry soap and no bleach or other additives. The narrow elastic is textured, which makes it very scratchy and uncomfortable. I will NEVER buy anything with the label "Hanes" again.

These knickers were sold as being cotton but in fact it states on the outer packet that they are 75%cotton and 25% polyester although it differentiates between 'solid' colours and 'printed' colours & 'heathers'. When I opened one of the rolled-up items it stated on the garment it was 75% cotton and 25% polyester. I was expecting 100% cotton, so opened another of a different pattern/material and that had the same amount of polyester in it. In other words all the knickers were made of the same non-cotton. I would not have bought them had this info. been stated on the website. The 2nd problem is that I ordered size 8 (normally being size 10 in English sizes) and these are HUGE. The size printed on each garment is given as: 8/XL/TG/XG whatever all that means. How can XL be size 8? I assume I cannot return them as I had to unroll and unsellotape 2 of the knickers to read their labels re. their composition, although I have definitely not worn them. A very disappointing experience.

Have bought Hanes before and they were great as I'm sure these would be if the sizing was a little more accurate... these were MASSIVE, when I say massive, i mean I could pull them up to my armpits, which is not the desired look I was going for.... perhaps they might be useful if I was going hiking maybe and lacked pockets, or perhaps they may even be more useful around Christmas, but right now, unless I grow another 4 feet these are humongous.... Other than that... they're great! haha. I wish there was more consistency for sizes across the board. There once was a time where you could try things on and the sizes were rather universal.... now you have to try everything on.

I ordered these knickers because of the colours, it's difficult to find a good range of blues which includes patternsWhen they arrived, after a long wait, not only are they the most abysmal assortment of boring plain monochromes, but they are too smallComplete waste of money

These came in a totally different colour assortment, really thin cotton and the size was so off kilter I could have used a pair for a hammock! No point in returning them all the way to the US, so I've given them away. Thumbs down, totally pants (pardon the pun).

hanes panties are great value, wear and wash very well and are very comfortable. highly recommend
