I picked up this 20-pack of microfiber ropes specifically to clean my Z-axis lead screws, which were starting to look a little black and grimed up with old grease and dust. Right out of the pack, they are the perfect thickness and texture for getting into tight mechanical gaps that a standard cloth or paper towel simply cannot reach. Performance & Real-World Testing Using these ropes is incredibly quick and easy. You just loop the microfiber strand completely around the lead screw and pull it from side to side while working your way up and down the shaft. It lifts away all the embedded black residue and debris effortlessly from the threads. Just remember to apply a fresh coat of high-quality grease to the screws once you are done cleaning! While I haven't tried washing the soiled ropes yet, they feel robust enough that I am guessing they will clean up a treat for multiple uses. The Bottom Line For anyone looking to maintain a precision machine, this pack is an essential piece of kit.
