Lancoon Electronic Edge Center Finder with LED and Beep for Milling CNC Lathe

I live it. It works great on mills you can’t operate with the door open. As soon as this thing hits your metal workpiece it grounds out and give you a light plus a loud audible. The ball is metric so half of the sphere is .197 vs your regular .1 for a standard edge finder.

No manual provided. Insert batteries either way up but device does no work. Inspection shows the cap is hollowed out so it will not make contact with either end of batteries. Perhaps there is a missing part that fits into end of cap?While trying to find a spring to fit end cap as shown in pictures, I happened to turn unit so that batteries fell out and lo, there was missing spring!! Moving it to proper location under cap and now unit works as described.

Good for figuring out exactly where the tool is. This type of edge finder doesn't spin and is purely electronic, so the contacting tool will also need to be conductive for it to work, though I don't see any reason for it not to be. The audible alarm isn't very loud, especially if you're in a noisy environment and have hearing protection on, but the LED light is bright enough. I don't see much reason maybe besides runout to get a more expensive edge finder, but this one is good enough for my purposes.

The shank is over .750 so nothing can hold it. The ball diameter is .390 which is odd. But because I’m a machinist I fixed it. Now you fix it.

This is a very useful unit, but only if your workpiece is conductive like metal. Wood or plastic won't work because you won't see the light or hear the beep. Great for the appropriate use.
