RAM MOUNTS Drill-Down Double GPS Ball Mount for Humminbird Helix 7 RAM-202-24-202U with Medium Arm

I like the easy turn knob for tightening and loosening either end of the ram so that you can make it fit anywhere on your boat. I used it for my Humminbird Helix 7. I highly recommend it. It’s sturdy—easy to mount—easy to make 360 degree adjustments.

Using this for a helix 7 mounted on a predator 13 (Kayak).It works great, it was made for the helix 7 so there was no having to figure out a mounting solution like I did with a lot other stuff on my kayak. With a unit as expensive as the helix 7 is, I wanted a sturdy well made mount. This thing is overkill. If push came to shove you could whack fish with it. It's made out of metal, looks to be a 1/4 20 bolt attached to the tension knob. It's pretty hefty, which is good because I dont want my fish finder anywhere other than in my boat.For me being in a kayak I need to be able to push the unit away from me or pull close to me as needed. The ball mount is great for that, I can position it just about anywhere.It does not however come with mounting hardware. Slightly odd for how expensive it is, but most hardware stores sell stainless hardware so whatever. For the price though, could of thrown some nuts and bolts in there... four stars because I'm still a little salty about this.Overall it was hard to justify how expensive this is, but now that I have it, I'm glad I bought it and do not regret it.

I bought this mount to install the unit on the gunwale near my vessel's driver's console. I was immediately impressed with the mount's adjustability and construction quality. My install took a little longer than what some may experience because the mount foot was not secured to a flat surface, i.e., shimming with washers took time. I recommend fastening the unit to the mount and mount foot with stainless steel hardware, even if the vessel is used in freshwater, which mine is a pro-style bass boat.The mount is easy and quick to install or remove before or after use. I remove the mount (with the unit fastened) when trailering or not fishing for security purposes.On the water, the mount holds the unit very rigidly, i.e., it does not shake or shift when on-plane or in rough waters because of the rubber ball. With that, you do not need to tighten the clamp as much as you may think for it to not move. So far, driving 75-plus miles per hour or cutting three foot rollers has not shifted or slipped the mounted unit. I am very pleased and I would consider buying another mount.

ordered RAM Mounts Drill-Down Double Ball Mount for Humminbird Helix 7 RAM-202-24-202U with Medium Arm for my Helix 9. I just drilled 2 new holes in the mounting plate and bolted the original bracket right on with no issues. Quality product.

This is a surprisingly sturdy mount, but the plate to connect to the fish finder was way too short, it didn't even cover the factory bolt holes. I used the RAM mount plate as a template and drilled my own holes and used some stainless steel bolts, washers, an nylon inserted nuts (about $6 in hardware) to make this work. I also got some longer bolts, etc. for mounting to my boat dashboard. Note, this only came with screws....I highly recommend using bolts if possible. I am also making a back plate for mounting to the dash, since my dash is pretty thin....another thing the manufacturer could consider in their next version.

I ordered two different Helix 7's This fit for the Helix 7 G4 but not the G4N. It was easy to drill new holes but still for the price it should fit perfectly.

This mount does not fit the Helix 7 G4N which is fourth generation and the N is for networking. Holes are appx. 1 in off. I spoke with Humminbird and the mounting holes on the gimble are the same on the G4N as the Helix8. Will be contacting Ram tomorrow to discuss return and correcting description info. Good mount im just not going to drill holes when they have a swing arm mount that should work for my finder. Hope this helps anyone looking for a mount for a newer Helix 7. Im actually editing the review a couple days after I posted all previous info. I spoke with Ram and they said Humminbird sent out about 5,000 Helix 7s with the wrong hole pattern for this mount. They also said Humminbird would send the correct gimble for this mount if you contact them. True or not i dont know I didnt contact Humminbird again. I ended up redrilling gimble to fit this mount.

The easiest part about installing my fish finder was this product right here. It's strong and rigid and does exactly what I need it to do. The only hiccup was the holes on this mount were a bit bigger than the holes on my Helix 7 so I had to go to the hardware store to get some fitting nuts and bolts.

The RAM mount was perfect for my Helix 7. The product was made of good quality materials and mounted easily. The dual ball mounting system gives you endless mounting angles. Very universal design. The rubber ball clamping system allows for quick adjustment and locks solidly wherever you set it. Also good quality setup. If you have a Helix 7 you can't go wrong with this mount. Happy fishing!

Great mount but for the low cost of hardware I am unsure why it does not come with it. Only complaint for this product is you need to then head out and grab hardware. If I was the seller I would at the very least provide some black screws, washers and nuts for the mounting of the helix to the RAM mount. As for the RAM mount to the boat I would leave that to the customer as everyone has their preference for use on their boat.
