The Iliad and the Odyssey Boxed Set

New to me but what drew me to this one is that it was by Peter Green.Now Peter Green was the original guitar player for Fleetwood Mac, but who knew he was a classics scholar as well?Sadly, it turns out this is not the same Peter Green, and I don’t know if he actually even plays guitar, but his translation is interesting and worth a look.I have read almost every translation of the Iliad since Lattimore (Graves, Fitzgerald, Fagles, Lombardo, Mitchell, and Caroline Alexander) and Peter Green’s is right up there.Spoiler, the Trojan Horse and Brad Pitt do not make an appearance in this translation, any more than they did in the previous ones.Forewarned is Forearmed.

I’m a fan of homers works and this translation is really nice. I’d recommend it.

Nothing to add to contents or translation of this edition, which are superb. Alas, University of California Press have decided to use a glued (!?) binding for it, which makes no sense whatsoever and detracts notoriously from the reading experience. You can't have 'deluxe' and 'glued' binding, people!

They arrived on time in good condition and were a welcomed present. The set is also very nicely presented.

the set arrived in perfect condition and just looks absolutely beautiful. though it is a hard read i strongy recommend it to anyone who is interested on greek mythology.
