SnapTite 2017 Ford GT Model Kit

After I saw the GT Win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Sunday June 19th, I thought that these kits won't be around too long before they disappeared forever and I would really regret not grabbing one while they are still available. It is the only 1/24th scale replica out there in circulation that looks accurate. It's a snap together so it goes together in about 20 minutes or so, with no moving parts other than the rolling wheels. The rims are sprayed in silver and look really nice pressed into the black rubber low profile tires.The wheels do have strong metal axles. There is an embossed engine profile under the rear glass. If you're looking for a replica similar to the old style dealership plastic demos that they handed out in the 50s and 60s, this is the ticket! The quality of the kit is excellent. I used single edge razor to clean the flashing off the plastic parts before snapping them together, not really necessary, but I'm a perfectionist with this kind of stuff. The 2017 GT is truly an amazing Super Car that will go down in the racing history books for sure! I just had to have one to display on my desk at work and this kit works great for just that! When they release the decked-out Racing version, I'll be buying that kit too.

My 8 year old needed a little help putting this together and he's a pretty smart kid. Other than 1 piece, it has stayed together well. Hardest part was matching the pieces to the picture in the directions.

Giving it five stars for service and overall exceeding of my expectations. This was not designed as a "modeler's" kit, so don't expect a lot of detail, but it did have more detail than I expected (can't believe they actually had the buttresses in the body, I thought for sure this would be solid plastic!!!) I had planned to paint this model, but once I received it, I nixed that idea but for painting the interior and the engine (interior is not that visible anyway). The body is molded in the appropriate color and requires no painting (purists might note that the "glitter" in the metallic finish is perhaps too large for this scale). No detail on the undercarriage whatsoever. This model was designed for a child to put together and play with, though some parts, such as the axles and rear-view mirrors may require adult strength and dexterity. Mirrors are made of a softer plastic (think army men) than the rest of the model so they likely won't break easily but will bend. The body is relatively thick, and not the flimsy plastic that Revell uses for airplanes. I'm quite pleased with this purchase. FYI, Hobby Lobby has this model for $17.99.

This was a great first model kit for my son, who doesn't yet have the patience for more complicated models. Also, he thinks cars are really cool, and this car is COOL! Easy for him to do on his own, once I showed him how to get started. Another one or two SnapTites, and he'll be ready for model cement.

Easy to assemble. Basic somewhat dull blue plastic. Nothing special. You get what you paid for

It is a simple kit but will require supervision. There are a lot of small pieces to keep track of and must be carefully removed with a sharp utensil due to it being attached to a grid of plastic. Always the best way to introduce model building to young people.

Now for the price that this model snap together kit is,it is ok quality. I only have one complaint. It is that once assembled, the axles like to slide it is shown in the photo below. Keeping on the axle topic, the axles are good quality metal. The body is plastic as well as all of the other pieces besides the axles. The wheels are nice. In good lighting,they are reflective. The tires fit well and are high-quality rubber that is very flexible. For display reasons, I would slide the axles to one side as if it were fixed. The car is pretty low to the ground. On and end note, I have one piece of advice. Use super glue, it helps. 4 stars.

Good quality for the price. It was easy and quick assembly which is important when working with a 4 year old.

10 year old grandson had fun building it. It was nice not to use glue & having to wait for it to dry before continuing. It looked exactly like the picture when it was done

日本のプラモメーカーにはないモデルラインナップかつ、1/24スケールということで気になったので購入してみました。 スナップタイトというシリーズ名からしても分かるように、このモデルは低年齢層を対象にした接着&塗装不要の簡易スナップフィットキットです。 構成パーツは28パーツとかなり少なく、タイヤは前後共に金属シャフトで繋がる構成なのでステアリング操舵はできません。 商品画像にはありませんが、実物には一部パーツに塗装が施されていて、そのまま組み立てただけでも多少のリアルな雰囲気を楽しめます。 ホイールやヘッドライトインナーパーツがシルバー、ウィンドウの枠にブラック、テールランプがレッドに塗ってあります。 また、ボディはブルーの成形色にラメが入っていて、なんちゃってブルーメタリックな感じで驚きました。 新型フォードGTならではの複雑なボディ形状ですが、簡易プラモの割に良く出来ています。 さすがに一発で抜ける形状ではないのでボディは2分割されていますが、工場出荷時の時点でこの部分だけは接着固定されているようです。 内装はバスタブ型パーツの前後にヘッドライトインナーパーツとリアのエンジンがモールドされたパーツが一体成形された大型のパーツで構成されます。 バスタブ型故にドア内張りは曖昧な出来ですが、インパネやステアリングホイール、シートは良く出来ていると思います。 初めて海外製の簡易キットを手にしましたが、小さい子どもでも難なく組める難易度設定というだけで、特に再現度が悪いということも無く、むしろボディの複雑なリアセクションや内装までもきっちり再現されていたのは驚きました。 ただ、★1個減らした理由は、クリアパーツの素材がちょっと気に入らなかったからですね・・・。 ウィンドウパーツ、ヘッドライトやテールランプ。 もう少し透明度が高ければ最高だと思いました。 新型フォードGTという貴重なキット、楽しく造り込んで行きたいと思います！

先にレビューを書かれた方が書いていますとおり2分割されたパーツが接着された状態で出荷されていますが、通常のカーモデル政策に欠かせないパーティングラインの除去を行う為にはばらす必要がでてまいります。 接着箇所はフロントホイルアーチ直後とルーフ前縁隅それぞれ左右の4箇所です。ホイルアーチ直後の方はリア側の部品のドアのラインで切ってしまえば良いので剥がさなくてもかまわないとは思いますが、ルーフ部分の接着ががっちりと行われた個体ではクロウすることになるとは思います。 あとはフロントホイルアーチ前縁とリアホイルアーチ後縁のウインカーが省略されていたり、フロントリップの黒い部分と車体との境目の解釈がおかしいこと、細かな簿で気の継ぎ目のパネルラインがかなり省略されている事あたりが気になるところです。 パーティングラインの除去のみならずパネルラインの追加工作を行う為にも母出来パーツの接着部分は剥がす必要が出てきます。

I purchased this kit for my 6 year old, (he's been 6 for a few weeks) It stated 8+ and takes about an hour to build. My son put it together in 20 minutes. So if you're looking for something really simple and mostly a sturdy build this is it. The side mirrors come off easy, he unintentionally lost those right away. The shifter in the middle of the seats snapped when trying to put it in. The windows required a little glue to keep them from popping off. Which happened easily. If your child is on the older side I would recommend paints as this isn't a challenging kit. The body has a great blue metallic finish and is a good deal for the price. Maybe get some silver/chrome paint to add to the engine and details like the wheels. Over all my son likes it and he's pretty rough with his things and this kit holds up to his style of play. A little to plain for someone who wants a challenge though.
