Although this mic seems outdated for many people because there are hundreds of new models everywhere, it still can perform and compete with even the 2024 models, my experience, is to make sure the XLR cable is far from power cables, and the phone is on plane mode to avoid any kind of interference and noise. It is a must have mic even in the 2024, Durable, light and high quality sound, it is even cheap for what it has as a whole package of items and performance.

Excellent, if short, shotgun microphone by those great Australians. Nicely made with an excellent starter kit containing sensibly chosen and well-sourced parts for microphone holding and use. The kit idea seems very juvenile perhaps, but in fact this package of items is well chosen and the parts seem very well made - not a junior kit. Will be paying attention to RØDE again!

This mic punches way above its price point. The audio quality is clean and natural with no weird coloration. Voices come through clear and detailed without that hollow or tinny sound you get from cheaper shotguns. I'm running it through an Onyx Artist 1-2 interface and the combo is killer. Preamps are clean and the mic picks up exactly what you point it at with minimal background noise. The included fluffy windscreen does a great job cutting down wind noise and handling bumps. Even without it the mic handles plosives pretty well. People on the other end have commented on how good it sounds without me even asking. For the price you're getting pro level audio that competes with mics twice the cost. The build quality is solid and it feels like something that'll last. If you're looking for a shotgun mic that delivers without emptying your wallet, this is the one. Pros: Clean natural sound, rejects background noise well, works great with the Onyx interface, fluffy windscreen is effective, solid build quality, lightweight, good off-axis rejection, great value for the quality. Cons: The fluffy windscreen is a little bulky for indoor use, no internal battery so you need phantom power, carrying case could be nicer.
