Pentax D-BG6 Digital Camera Battery Grips (Black) for K1 / K1 Mark II

This grip works exactly as advertised and really improves the K1. It can hold one battery (or you have the option of loading I believe 6 AA batteries if you need to in a pinch) and one additional SD card. It does add a bit of weight to the body however since it lengthens the standard grip you can get your entire hand and palm on the camera and it ends up balancing out the weight of larger lenses (like the 24-70 2.8) very well. I actually just leave this grip on the camera now because it like how it improves the body that much.As expected the grip very much improves vertical shooting. It has two dials allowing you to adjust Aperture and Shutter Speed, and ISO button, an exposure comp button, a back button AF (love this), AE lock button, and a program button. The placement of the back button AF and program button are in a slightly different location than on the standard body, however you get used to it quickly and I actually prefer their placement. Being Pentax the grip is also weather sealed, and while I have not tested it myself Pentax has a very good reputation for good weather sealing so I would have no issue bringing this out in a heavy rain. Ive even seen Pentax's submerged in water and keep shooting, so I have no worries about their WR claims.Honestly, while I was apprehensive at first about buying the grip, I am glad I did. It is now a permanent attachment to my body and has served me well. If you love to shoot in the portrait orientation, want to shoot in that orientation more, need to balance a heavy lens easier, or just want the solace of knowing you have an extra battery and an SD to back up to this is you ticket. I highly recommend it.

Like always, the Pentax brand name grip has excellent quality and a good price for a brand name grip compared to the 2 major brands in DLSR. It balances the Pentax K-1 very nicely so i am glad i got it. It fits perfectly, solid and it is weather resistant as the Pentax camera bodies. Since the grip has room for only 1 battery, place the battery in the grip and leave the camera without a battery if you do not need the charge of 2 batteries. In this way you do not need to remove the grip if you want to recharge the battery in the body. If you need the charge of 2 batteries place 1 in the body, 1 in the grip and go to the menus in the camera to select you want to use the battery on the grip first.

I bought this because I like the idea of not having to reload batteries while out and about on vacation. But as it turns out, my batteries last VERY long even without this.The value of this is for me in how it allows you to use the camera in different grips. Maybe I'm just a dork, but I didn't know the grip allowed for a second shutter release. Genius!!It make the camera heavier and bigger, but that's ok. Well worth it. It also makes the camera look and feel more "pro" which impresses clients.

Great grip. Solid and balances well with heavier lenses

It makes the camera too large to put into my slr camera bag.. but the ability to have an extra buttery to use as well as AA batteries makes it very effective. Also the battery holder can store a memory card to use if I fill up the two in the camera. The added controls are useful when shooting from different angles. There are no real downsides other than the fit in my camera bag and a little extra weight

Der Pentax D-BG 6 Batteriegriff wird in der Pentax typischen silbernen "Pentax Accessories" geliefert. Neben dem Batteriegriff (die AA Akku Schublade war im Batteriegriff) ist noch eine Schublade für den D-LI90 Akku im Lieferumfang. Weiterhin ist noch eine Anleitung zum Batteriegriff im Karton, die auch eine deutschsprachige Sektion enthält.Der Batteriegriff ist Pentax typisch sehr gut in der Verarbeitung. Der Batteriegriff hat, wie auch die Batteriegriffe der Pentax Kp und K3III für den Kontaktschutz, und die Gummiabdeckung an der Kamera eine Einbuchtung. so können diese teile nicht abhanden kommen. Wenn der Batteriegriff an die Kamera geschraubt ist, dann wackelt übrigens nichts. Der sitzt sehr gut an der Kamera. Mir gefällt auch das Pentax Logo hinten an dem Batteriegriff. Da weiß ich immer mit welcher Marke ich arbeite.... ;-)Das finde ich noch immer gut. Der Batteriegriff hat für die Hochkant Nutzung auch einige der Kamera Bedienelemente am Batteriegriff liegen, damit man den zugriff dort auf die Tasten hat. Das ist sehr gut gelöst. Nur der Batteriegriff der Pentax K3III ist da noch durchgängiger.Wenn der Batteriegriff an der Kamera ist, dann liegt die Kamera wirklich gut in der Hand. Gerade bei der Nutzung von großen Objektiven (70-200mm und 150-450mm Tele) ist der Batteriegriff schon fast Pflicht. Gerade da ist das Handling mit dem Batteriegriff besser, und die Kamera liegt super in der Hand. Bei kleineren Objektiven ist der Batteriegriff zwar auch gut aber nicht so sehr eine Pflicht. Ich verwende meine K1II auch ohne Batteriegriff mit z.B. dem 15-30mm Objektiv, und das ist jetzt auch nicht unbedingt klein.Ich habe noch ein paar Bilder an die Rezension angefügt, auch einen Vergleich zwischen K1II und K3III jeweils mit BG. Die K1II ist nicht wirklich viel größer als die K3III.Fazit:Bei großen Objektiven gewinnt das Handling mit dem Batteriegriff. Der Pentax D-BG 6 Batteriegriff ist der letzte seiner Art der noch eine AA Schublade bietet. Ich mag den Batteriegriff an meiner K1II, und vergebe daher 5 Sterne!
