Ordered a pack of 2H, got sent a pack of 4H. Won't linger on that, though, since theses are fantastic drawing and sketch pencils. Top is the current design, bottom is the older one from decades past. They're great pencils; they just usually run from $1-2 per, so it can get rather expensive to only use these for your drawings. Slightly (not a lot) weightier than the old variations but carry the same category of high-quality lead that is nearly impossible to break unless you're deliberately dropping it.

Love them. These are smoothly formulated; enough charcoal to give rich depth, enough graphite to hold a soft point & the right amount of binder to keep it from breaking. ( Since it’s 12B, remember to rotate the sharpener & not the pencil to keep from breaking the point repeatedly inside the sharpener.) Helpful for all skill levels, esp new artists afraid to “make itt too dark”. You want these. Heavenly.

Love love these for drawing on newsprint. All I need is this for block in and one dark pencil for shading. I got confusted by some of the people that think this is not a good 4B pencil because of the hundred in the description. Don't listen. I had very old 4Bs and this is the same same pencil. I needed moreof these for block ins. I don't like using 5 different pencils as my art teacher does so I use this to block in, tones, and even do the shadows by pressing darker. Less trouble than having 5 different pencils of different graphite tones. When I really want to do a great job I put shadows in with 6B or 8B. I am not a professional, just love drawing and this is my tool of choice along with a good used (older version) panasonic auto stop pencil sharpener. An older artist told me about it. New ones aren't as good. They are cheap on eBay. If I had to sharpen my pencil as my art teacher suggests with a razor or exacto I wouldn't draw. I break leads right and left doing this. I respect the artists who have the patience. Those long long leads sharpened this way produces beautiful work, but my work is pretty darn good with this sharpener. I have five of these Steadler pencils sharpened and ready to go before I draw. Great product, buy so they don't stop making them. I dont' want to buy a whole set just to get a 4B. Good pencils for drawing cartoons for pencil lines to be inked over and then erase visible pencil marks.

These pencils are a revelation as a writing tool after using the classic yellow USA pencils for decades. The points stay sharper longer, I or my daughter are yet to have a point break, there is a consistent crispness even after using it for an hour of writing, and the balance in your hand is exceptional. Bought for my daughter to use for school at home, she loves them and now I use them all the time for my work at home. Add an eraser top if you think that is a problem, completely worth making the switch.

I accidentally found the pencil laying around at a relative's home and learned it belonged to an architect in the family. Our 5 year old was writing and not wanting to do her work. I told her to use the magic pencil I found because it wrote as smooth as silk and left a clearly formed letter. After trying it, she will now only use the magic pencil as well as her classmates. I ordered the pencils for all and it is now our ONLY writing pencil. I have taken up the magic pencil as well as it just glides along and leaves a beautiful impression on the paper. After ordering the pencil through Amazon, they arrived the next day.

I use a soft pencil to mark my music scores so that it can be easily erased.

These Staedtler 4B pencils are just the perfect writing pencil. The point never breaks off after sharpenning. Writes smoothly with the 4b lead since it leaves just the perfect amount of lead on the paper. HB is way too light and hard. Highly recommended.

These are not the original pencils as specified in the description.The original ones have “MADE IN GERMANY” written on each pencil.Quality of the pencils is very bad and smudge a lot. Try to buy the original ones.

J'ai eu l'occasion d'utiliser des crayons graphite de plusieurs marques, mais les Staedtler sont ceux que je préfère pour l'écriture. Les crayons Mars Lumograph sont certes un peu plus onéreux que les traditionnels Criterium, mais ils sont (vraiment) robustes, ne grattent pas sur le papier et se taillent sans aucun problème. La mine HB de ce crayon glisse sur le papier sans jamais accrocher, ne casse pas et le tracé qu'elle produit peut être gommé sans effort.À recommander.
