Mazama Axe Top Fill Hydration Reservoir 3L

I am a longtime owner of the Osprey 20 hydration pack  Osprey Packs Manta AG 20 Hydration Pack, Fossil Grey, One Size  that I use for mountain biking and hiking. I have always loved the bite valve on the reservoir. It doesn't drip and has great flow. I have also owned Camelbak hydration packs in the past but find them less ergonomic and don't like the bite valve as it drips. I have had my pack for 10 years and needed to replace the reservoir and found that the Mazama Windigo  Mazama Designs Windigo, 3 L Top Fill Hydration Reservoir Water Bladder With Insulated Hose for Most Hydration Pack Water Backpack Replacements  had a similar bite valve. Since it cost less I decided to pull the trigger. This has definitely been an upgrade. Filling it is a complete no brainier, quick and precise. The handle allows for no spill. I don't have to worry about a screw cap that leaks if not properly secure. When the clamps are down no leaking occurs! It even has clear marks on the side that allow you to measure the amount of water. The wide mouth and detachable hose allow for quick and easy drying. No taste or smell either. Fit my pack perfectly. I noticed that they also have a dual bladder system and would like to try that for electrolytes replacement.

The perfect bag! This was the third 3L bag I had tried for my backpack and the first to not leak.It is easy to fill and locks shut. You can actually fill it up to 3 liters (actually even a little over) without any difficulty due to the top fill/closure (unlike ones where you fill it in the front).The snap off connector is not right at the base of the bladder as you find with Camelbak and some other brands.The standard tube comes with insulation.The only problem I had was trying to figure out how to open the bite valve. Without my glasses on, I couldn't see the little arrow showing where you had to unlock it.I had no leaking in a very full/stuffed backpacking pack -- even when I put the pack down flat (the last one gave me wet straps when I did this). No leaking from the valve at any time. I just used it for a 2 day trip and plan on getting one for my daughter now.

Not built for the long haul. I bought this bladder 7 months ago. I purchased it for longer trips where my 2 Liter bladder is to small. In the past 7 months that I have used the bladder maybe 10 times. This month it started leaking where the hose connects with the bladder. I did not like running out of water halfway into a 15 mile cross country mountain hike. Contacted the vendor and received no response.

Don't like it. It leaked at enclosure while laying in horizontal position. As long as i keep my backpack upright it doesnt leak. and mouthpiece valve broke while opening it for first time. Sending it back, and ordered a new one. Have not yet tried the new one. Hopefully it will be better. Until then i give this one only one star.

Arrived broken, not very good quality overall, much happier with camelpak I bought after this purchase failed.
