Nostalgia in bounds
Famous Five is a nostalgic series that has many appealing features: adventures, kids vs grown-ups, rebelliousness. This sixth instalment is no different, and it heavily features George, which is a real treat. It's hard not to love the little stibborn girl, who wishes so badly to be a boy. She's a real highlight of the series as a whole, but her love of Timmy (her dog) really shines through in this book.People are after Quentin's scientific secrets, and with things not quite right on Kirrin Island, the bunch investigate. Dark caves, a tunnel in a quarry - this is adventure most realistic for children and adults alike. Very enjoyable to go back and rediscover this.

the famous five was like listening to paint dry
Wow... these are unbearable to listen to. We did two 14hour car journeys with our two 6 year olds and also had a Harry Potter and Roald Dahl Audio books. The Harry Potter and Roald Dahl were captivating... the famous five was like listening to paint dry!

Great for kids
I used to love the Famous Five and I thought the best way I could get my eldest daughter to start enjoying it was to use this CD edition. Well it works, she loves it, is now a fan and is now happy to read the paper versions!

Excellent Book
Our 7yr old boys cannot get enough of the Famous Five stories, just like me at their age. We're reading these to them just now and hopefully they'll then read them themselves before too long.
