Magnum 10 STX is Awesome!
Bought 2 magnum 10 STX and they are awesome. The 5 STX doesn't come with a swivel base that's why I opted for the 10 STX that come with a swivel base. The weight stops at the water line every time. Fast up and down, you can slow it by using the clutch but I didn't because it was perfect. I do recommend getting the retro-ease weight retriever or the scotty retriever because reaching over the side of the boat pulling in the 10lbs weight and keeping control of the weight while hooking your line on the clip get a little frustrating at times. After hand cranking the cannon mini for years it's nice to be able to hit the switch and not have one buff arm.

Works perfect at first test!
Just installed it and test it, it works perfectly, basic functionality just loose it to drop the weight and pull the switch up to automatically lift the weight up, it’s amazing we don’t need anything else!

retrieve stops at water surface
Such an improvement over my original Canon mag 10's. So fast lowering ball, and on retrieve having ball stop at surface is great. Expensive but well worth it. Long term investment, like a good graph. I replaced an on off switch, and the new one did the same thing, stopping when down a couple hundred feet. Then I realized it was a battery issue. The old story, "if you think education is expensive try ignorance". Ha,ha! Canon is outstanding, only down rigger to buy.*****

Make sure it works before you pull away from the dock
Came with a bad motherboard. Built it, put it on my boat. Did not work. It is now at a shop getting fixed. If I didn’t throw the box away I would return it

Like how this downrigger is set up the on and off switch is easy to do the rod holder is so èasy to get at
