48 Cute and Whimsical Designs in Volume 2 by Mary Engelbreit – printed on one side of perforated page
The media could not be loaded. I have enjoyed Mary Engelbreit's designs for many years and have her first coloring book in this series as well. This new book is every bit as cute and fun to color in as “Color ME”. There are a number of my favorite designs included though I am still looking in vain for “Snap Out of It”. I hope it will appear in a later book though I doubt it will be in her Christmas book slated for publishing later this year. There are 48 designs in this book including the cute title page. I like that so many of the designs involve garden themes as I am just getting quite busy out in my garden at this time of year. There are some detailed designs and some that are a little more on the simple side. Those are ones that I will probably pull out of the book and let my younger visitors color when we have a game/color night party.I love the that the designs are printed on one side of the page. That will allow me to use a wide variety of coloring mediums, especially my Tombows and other markers. Here is a quick overview of what I found in this book:48 Cute Designs by Mary Englebreit (includes title page)Printed on one side of the pagePages are white, smooth to the touch, heavyweight and perforatedGlue BoundBook lays fairly flat if you press down hard to break the spineDesigns stop well before the perforationsAlcohol-based markers bleed through quicklyWater-based markers leave spots of color on the back of the page though Stabilo triplus finerliners did the best of the bunch by only leaving colorful shadowsIndia Ink pens bleed through the page in spots as well.Gel pens do not bleed through but need a little extra drying time.Coloring pencils did well except for blending. Both wax and oil based pencils provided good color with both a light and a firm touch. They layered well. While the pencils all blended, they did so unevenly with very light blends and most of the color staying in the original spot. Hard lead pencils such as Verithins provided good color and crisp lines and did not dent the back of the page.If you use markers, I suggest that you either remove pages from the book to color or use a blotter page below your working page. That way you can keep ink from seeping through and damaging the design pages below.

More ME pictures to color!
I love ME things - and it's a thrill to be coloring myself, something that she drew! However, I was not as happy with this second coloring book as I was with the first one - the first one had more of her what I call 'poster colorings' - a quote with her drawing, ones used in posters, calendars, etc. that we've all seen. For ex., one page is a sheet of paper doll clothes - without a paper doll. One page is a whole sheet of her trademark 'cherries' - which I suppose could be used as a mat if framing a favorite smaller photo. A few pages just don't look like the usual ME drawings we are accustomed to seeing. I'll have fun with it and you will too - but I would say if you don't have either one, get the original, the first coloring book, and you'll be thrilled!

Most pages are Better suited for children
The coloring book states it is for children and adults. However, while there are a few pages that are geared towards adults it’s mostly designed for children. Pages with paper dolls, fairies, and cartoon baby animals are not my style so I am a little disappointed because I bought it for me. But I have enjoyed several of the more “grown up” pages very much and the book was on sale when I bought it, so I give it 4 stars. The paper is nice and the pages rip out for easy coloring. Another reviewer shows each page in her review so if you are unsure if you would like this book, look at her video showing the pages.

Wow, that’s expensive!
I love ME stuff, always adorable! However the cost of a single coloring book is over $16 with tax and there really isn’t any way to justify it.The paper in the book is like any other book, just plain old paper, not extra thick or anything. And what really gets me is how if it doesn’t come spiral bound for easy removal, then AT LEAST perforate the pages! Nope! I paid $16 for a book I can’t remove the pages of without ripping the book to shreds 😡The pictures are cute tho, lots of little details and such. So that’s my take on this coloring book.Does anyone know if Ms Ronnie Walter will be coming out with any new coloring books any time soon? I think I actually like hers better.

You too can be an artist!!!!!
The Mary Engelbreit coloring books are simply the best coloring books. Great designs simple or complicated what ever you decide (or as detailed as you want). Price is fair. Paper is heavy enough most of the time so there is no leakage of ink (even Prismacolor markers). Excellent to be shared with adults and young children. Adults can use on their own or share with their children - a great opportunity to show their kids art and coloring techniques, increase artistic awareness, and benefit their relationships by learning how to share. I hope this helps you. Also I bought all three editions and was happy with all of them.!!!

She's brilliant and I am a longtime fan of all her work.
I buy these Mary E products every year for myself and for certain relatives and friends because she so artfully evokes goodness and innocence with her illustrations, wise reminders and quotes. She brings out the unjaded in all of us and makes her fans smile. No artist captures and captivates me more than Mary Engelbreit. Be forewarned. I am writing this same review on all my recent ME calendar based and coloring book purchases. Repetition, in this case, is no less sincerely meant - its just easier and practical!

I bought both coloring books so the order was close ...
I bought both coloring books so the order was close to $50 with shipping. I have been a fan of hers for years ... have many of her items in my home including china - day-tp-day and Christmas, some jewelry pieces, tote bags, a Christmas book and video, etc. I also get her calendars each year. Given all of her illustrations that could have been chosen I found the content choices for both books to be disappointing. Maybe only 4 or 5 in each book that I really will be interested in coloring. Had I been able to review them personally at a store, I probably would not have purchased them.
