These are very small, just like advertised. Due to their small size they had a weak magnetic force making it more difficult for students to see the magnetic field. The did allow the kids to explore with different magnets. Once they learned about attraction and repulsion, they were able to test and label the poles on different magnets that allowed for a better visual. Update: I've had over 150 kids use these magnets, they have been dropped, stepped on and abused. They are all still in tact. I'm changing my rating from 4 stars to 5

These are teaching magnets, used to demonstrate magnetic poles and fields. These are not designed for use as refrigerator magnets. The length is in the description, so I'm not sure why anyone is surprised at their size.

Weaker than expected but worked for our science experiments.

I bought the magnets for a science class and didn't verify they were magnetized before getting them out of the package. Very big mistake on my part. As I was setting up my class I discovered the alleged magnets were not magnetized. Since I was demonstrating magnetic fields I put the magnets in front of a compass and the compass needle didn't move towards the magnet... My advice - DO NOT buy them.
