CAN TAP

Santech - TopCan Tap Tool
Whenever charging a auto a/c system with cans I prefer using a side can tap. I purchased this a/c tap for those last - partially used cans, so I can save the remaining contents of the can and use for another a/c recharge. The tap tool I received has a nice polished brass finish, unlike the image shown on Amazon. I purchased this particular tap because it was the only item I needed at the time and it was the only top tap on Amazon with free shipping w/o having to meet any eligible shipping requirements. To use.... screw onto refrigerant can, then screw charging/suction hose (yellow) onto tap adapter. Screw tap handle clockwise to puncture the can, then turn counterclockwise to open valve for refrigerant flow. To save partial contents of can, simply turn handle clockwise to seal... store can for later use w/o venting refrigerant as it is illegal to vent any refrigerants unless purging hoses of air.One thing I noted, the threads on this can tap were machined correctly. In the past, I have had problems with the threads on other taps screwing onto cans.If you're using R12/R22 hoses or have an r134 manifold like my CPS MA1234 where the yellow hose fitting is 1/4", then you will need an adapter as the threads on this tool is for R134a and are 1/2" acme..To determine how much refrigerant is left in a partial can, I weigh an empty can plus the tool with digital mail scales. In my case, my hose requires use of an adapter so I weighed the can, tap tool and adapter together.Total weight for my setup - 7.6 ozSo I subtract 7.6 oz from the total weight of partially used can to give ne how much refrigerant is remaining ln the can. I write the weight of refrigerant on the can with a sharpie for future useEase of use, no loss of refrigerant, cheap price tag, properly machined threads, free shipping and excellant customer service earns this top can tap a 5 star rating

Bad product
Don't waste your money, threads were crossed and wasted two cans of r134

Can tap goes in crooked.
For some reason when I try and screw to the freon bottle it always tries to go in as of it was cross threaded. It messed up my oil recharge but seems to work even though it's crooked. Like it but don't like the fact that it goes in crooked. Looks 50/50 change of leaking or sealing right.

Does not screw onto can.
The threads which mate to the can are not tapped completely. So, it does not screw completely onto the can. I received a replacement and had the same issue.
