Quality tool
Very well made in the USA. Love the locking ring and it’s got a nice click. Highly recommend. Been a car guy all my life and finally stepped up and got a nice torque wrench.

Works great
I love this thing. It comes with a nice protective case. The wrench is heavy and very long so it will be hard to torque things in tight spaces but other than that it is very easy to use. The markings on it are kind of hard to see but still legible in good light. I love how you pull down on the sleeve to twist left or right for your desired torque setting and after you are done, it clicks back into place and locks. While I used it my hands never even came close to hitting the sleeve and knocking my settings off. That was my one concern. No longer is it a concern. The handle is nice and grippy too. You definitely get what you pay for. I have another torque wrench but it is cheap and we had it for about 7 years. It still works but it is not calibrated correctly and plus I never knew to set the torque settings back to the lowest setting when I was finished with it. With this model I have, I make sure to set it to its lowest setting after I am done with it. The switch to set it to ratchet left or right has a center that locks the ratcheting. It also has a button you press to release whatever socket you have on it as well as put one on. All of my other tools I keep outside. This wrench is staying in the house with me so it don't get lost or damaged. If you want a good quality wrench, this is your toy.

The fact that Snap-On bought them only makes them better in my opinion
CDI is an old and respected manufacturer of torque measurement products. The fact that Snap-On bought them only makes them better in my opinion. This wrench is an accurate and high quality tool - the build quality is obvious to anyone who has a clue about what a quality tool is. This one is a replacement for my previous one that somehow disappeared in my son's toolbox ;-) I reveived the wrench two days early from Amazon's supplier (BW Direct), it was in a solid plastic protective case and the instructions, warranty AND torque test results were all included. I'm writing this review to not only endorse the manufaturer and the tools they make but to give my opinion on the few negative comments I have read on this page. Here they are: 1. this review is about a 1/2" drive wrench, NOT a 3/8' drive. A 1/2" drive always makes a nice, solid click. A 3/8" does not - all 3/8" torque wrenches I have ever used make light, subtle clicks. If you don't pay attention, you miss it and inevitably over-torque. If you happen to see this complaint in negative reviews, make sure you are looking at the drive size of the wrench being reviewed. 2. the laser markings that indicate the torque setting are crisp, well defined and easy to see. Again, look at the wrench size - markings on 3/8" and 1/4" drives are harder to see simply because they are smaller. 3. the knurling of the handle is well machined and provides sufficient grip, even with greasy hands. At this price, this wrench is a steal and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Wish I had bought this years ago.
Good solid wrench, the added leverage you get from the length makes the job sooooo much easier. I had to torque axle nuts to 217 ft lbs and this tool made it almost enjoyable. Made by the same folks that make snap on.. its not cheap, but I don't think I have to replace it soon.

Excellent quality, very happy with my purchase
I did quite a bit of research on torque wrenches and came up with the CDI brand as a very good quality, accurate unit for an excellent price. I then searched for where to buy it for a good price and found the best price on Amazon. I ordered it and received it in a couple of days so I am very pleased. A number of pro's for this product: 1. It is a solid, well crafted unit and has a metal handle so will not break readily with the amount of abuse I put them through 2. To set the wrench, one rotation is 10. You would not believe how many wrenches go in 15's; you try to figure out (easily) how to get it to 85; not fun. 3. It has a nice solid click when you get there! 4. It has acurate readings (I verified it on a torque wrench bench tester). Cons: 1. Once I got the wrench I noted that it is not as acurate when you get to the high end or very low end of its range. I was not concerned about the high end but I often do work that requires it to be below 50 ft lbs so I ended up getting another CDI torque wrench (3/8 drive) whose main range is 30-75 to fix that. Keep that in mind when buying this; it works most accurately between 50 and 225. (It is still quite acceptable but I'm a perfectionist when it comes to torque) Please note that to keep the wrench acurate you need to reset it back to the setting it came at from the factory (in this case 30). There was a document inside indicating this; that was good to know as I was always told to set it all the way out. Not following this every time your done using it is one quick way to have your wrench measurements go out of whack. Cheers

absolutely superior!
This is a terrific torque wrench that is clearly superior to the Chinese ones you can buy for half the price. The mechanical operation is precise and satisfying. I love that there isn't much slop in the operation- this allows you to make progress in tight spaces where a less precise torque wrench. The length is good and makes it much easier to get the leverage you need for high torque applications. I really like that the head has three modes (loosen, tighten, both) and that it snaps into each setting with authority. They even stuck with lefty-loosey and righty-tighty for the toggle direction so it's easy to know which mode you have it set for. The plastic fitted case is nice and appropriate for this level of tool. Do yourself a favor, spend the extra $100 and get this versus a cheap import.

By far the best torque wrench I have ever used.
In the past I have bought nearly 5 torque wrenchs, all manufactured from different companies, and was never truly impressed or satisfied. They all were either inaccurate or easily damaged. This wrench here was truly impressive. The entire tool is heavy duty and made of American Metal which was by far the biggest advantage over my past purchases. Im currently doing a frame-off restoration on a 1986 GMC K1500 and this is being used to torque every single bolt down to the lug nuts. I wanted to make sure I put the tool to good use before writting a review so last week I hung all the leaf springs, axles, and various chassis components and I was struck with awe how easily and trouble free this tool was to use. This is one of the very few remaining torque wrenches still Manufactured in the USA and im proud to own such a qaulity tool. No wonder this is the only torque wrench on Amazon.com that has recieved 5 stars for every single review. If your going to buy a different torque wrench simply because its cheaper, save yourself some time and money and go with what the professionals use. You wont be dissapointed!

Impressive Tool
I am completely happy with this product. Here is why: The micrometer adjustment is in 10's around the dial so there is no adding or guessing what your setting is. I have used others in 15 lb graduations and this tool removes the fuss. Simply pull back on the spring loaded sleeve and rotate the main body to make adjustments. Let go and it locks right in. Others I have used have a locking dial on the handle end which can become loose and you lose your setting. The handle is just the right length for a 250 ft/lb torque wrench. Others I have seen are unnecessarily long, and can be hard to manage. CDI has excellent customer support. I contacted them prior to ordering and a tech spent plenty of time explaining the specifics of their wrenches. I called the tech for an explanation on accuracy ratings. This wrench is accurate within +/- 4% of indicated reading from 20% to 100% of full scale. My certificate of calibration states values much lower than this (from .5 - 2.5%). 20% to 100% is industry standard though some torque wrench's will be accurate to +/- 3%. In this case 20% of 250 ft/lb is 50 ft/lb. So this tool will be increasingly less accurate the farther below 50 ft/lb you go, or in that bottom 20%. This is due to lack of compression on the spring in the lower range. Really this wrench should be labeled as a 50 - 250 ft/lb wrench, corresponding to the included certificate of calibration (meaning: my cert. of calibration labels this wrench as 50 - 250 ft/lb). Just know that with ANY spring type click wrench the low capability should be 20% of max even if dial will indicate a lower setting.

I've used it a few times in the past week and this is waaaaay better quality than the cheaper Princess Auto special torque wrench ...
I would give this 6 stars if I could. I was actually thinking about buying a Snap-On wrench a few months back but the price stopped me. Well, this is certainly comparable to that level of quality but basically half the price. CDI Torque is a Snap-On sub-company anyway. I've used it a few times in the past week and this is waaaaay better quality than the cheaper Princess Auto special torque wrench I had before. Just night and day difference. If you are looking for a very high quality torque wrench at a reasonable price, just buy it. I'm now considering buying the 3/8" and 1/4" versions from CDI.

Works as expected
Accurate and well built. Only nit-pick is the text can be kinda hard to read under the shop lights (metal halide bulbs).
