REOTEMP FM-0 Orange Probe Handle for Compost Thermometers

Bought this to use with the Reotemp Super Duty compost thermometer. The threads are indeed 1/2" NPT and would work well with those on the thermometer had it not been for the poorly cut threads. As is, the thermometer only threads in about a 1/4". Nothing a good tap can't fix. Just unfortunate that it doesn't work as intended out of box, or rather, that it needs fixing right out of box. It wasn't that long ago that you'd be able to buy something with your hard earned money and expect it to work and last a good while because companies didn't view cutting corners as an acceptable way of cutting expenses. Now it seems that all companies cut corners as standard practice, as good products and services have now fallen victim to the disgusting corporate practices of today where no one takes pride in their work and the main goal of the corporation is to rake in as much money as possible. These days it's commonplace to find screws pre-stripped from the factory, parts pre-rusted, obsolescence pre-designed and fully incorporated into products. Such is the disposable world we live in. Yep, sounds about 2021.

Failure, does not work as claimed. No compatible with the Reotemp thermometer. There is no option for customer service or support. I will have to buy extra parts to make it work.

Updated Review: It never occurred to me to return this item when I had made a mistake. It was well made and return was so simple. Old Review: Seemed like a great idea and mine was just delivered yesterday, with my new thermometer. Unfortunately, the REOTEMP Compost Thermometer I ordered isn't compatible with this unit, even though it was shown at the bottom as frequently purchased with my new compost thermometer. My mistake. I only rated it low because it is of no use to me and cost more than the thermometer. Be sure to read the small print that even though it is shown together, there are only two of their thermometers that are compatible. Those were $100 more and the "Heavy Duty" versions.

I bought the Heavy Duty REOTEMP 48” for composting. Frankly I don’t know why they sell them separately. I store the thermometer in 1/2” PVC bungeed tip to the guard.

Screws right on and protects the dial really well. Bright orange color helpful as well. Using to check temperature on big round hay bales. Glad I got it to go along with my Reotemp thermometer.
