This is a delightful book! I'll has a developed story line and gorgeous illustrations! In fact, it is one of the best board books we have! My children love me reading this book to them over and over again - and I don't mind doing it! I highly recommend this book! Please mark if you find my review helpful. Thank you so much!

Huge hit with our airplane-obsessed toddler
I bought this book for an 18 month old who adores big machines, especially airplanes and helicopters. I wanted to find an uncomplicated story that isn't just a nonfictional naming of airplane parts or patterns, but also didn't have too much text on the page. This little book is great for that - it tells the story of Pilot Small (sometimes "she" and sometimes "he" - the text says "he" but the drawings are fairly neutral, so I switch it up when reading with the kiddo) going to the hangar, fueling the plane, then flying over the countryside and returning home.At 18 months, our kid was happy to look at the airplane pictures and point out the little red car, and of course make sound effects. At 23 months, he can tell us more or less what's happening in the pictures (with sound effects!) and uses hand gestures or toys to act out parts where he can't pronounce the words. There's one page where Pilot Small does a loop, which tends to make him worried that Pilot Small will fall out - we often get stuck there because he tries to turn the book upside down to help Pilot Small, but when we turn the page, we've gone backwards in the story.I wasn't entirely sure how well this book would work when I bought it, but it has been a hit and is stored with the most requested books on the most easily accessible bookshelf. It will probably get rotated out soon, to give mom and dad a break, but it has definitely been the favorite of all of the airplane books given to the kid.

Sweet board book for my 2 year old son!
This book is precious. My 2 year old loves to read it and see the pictures of the pilot. It's realistic, but nothing too much at all. The pictures are great and there are details that my son can pick out like the pilot's house and the hangar at the airport. If your kid likes airplanes, you wont want to miss out on this book!

The Little Airplane and Pilot Small are terrific!
This is a very enjoyable book to read to a baby and toddler. Bought this book because my sons room has an airplane motif and thought it would be a great addition to his little library of books. And in my opinion it has been! I got the board book version and am very happy.

Still flying high!
Nostalgia to share with a grandchild, having read Lous Lenski’s as a young child myself in the US.

This is a nice (not great)
This is a nice (not great), well illustrated little book that could have used a few more pages. If your toddler likes planes, it's a decent buy. But given a choice, there are better books around.

Average.
The pictures are not really cute and my son doesn’t really like it.
