Virgil Masterson is Kallie Masterson's cousin and he is a cop. He gets a taste of the BDSM life through his brother in law Jake and Jake's brother Luke. He can't quite come to grips with that fact that hitting woman can be a good thing especially if the woman wants it. He thinks he is a freak and goes to Dark Haven to find out. He is a good man who likes his dominance but has trouble grappling with it as well.Summer had a bad experience with a Dom at Dark Haven and now she pays it safe with a few Dom's who she considers friends. But Simon and Xavier have other plans for her as Xavier think she is just playing at submitting. She will play with anyone outside of the club because of what happened to her with one bad Dom.Summer is lassoed by Virgil in a contest at the club and he is instantly fascinated by her. Slowly he drives her wild and they spend a few days together but Summer won't play outside of the club and Virgil needs to go home. Summer wants him but can she trust again?These two characters are so right for each other that it oozes off the page. Summer is sweet if not sassy and she can handle herself but her confidence is shaken. Virgil knows what he is but needs to comes to grips with it, the cop side vs. the dom side. The struggle is real and the story is a page turner.

Virgil is a soft hearted, respected and respectful, virile, gorgeous and Dominant. Yet he has troule reconciling his Dominant or pervert side as he calls it with his upbringing and law enforcement background. He's suppoed to arrest men who hit women not get off on paddling a woman himself. Summer is playing at her submission after being severely abused by a so called Dom (read about it in Simon Says: Mine - Mountain Masters Bk 2) since then she's only played with light weight Doms and only at Dark Haven. After meeting and sharing a night of erotic decadence, the two go their separate ways but can't seem to let go of their night together. They come together at Serenity Lodge for a Hunt's BDSM play party and reconnect passionately. Feelings are expressed but their situation seems hopeless as Summer is moving to Oregon to take a new job. Can they figure out an HEA?This is a poignantly sweet love story. No great conflucts, mystery or intrigue. Just two people who click and now have to figure out what to do about it. Another great book by Cherise Sinclair.

Summer is scared after being hurt badly by a wannabe Dom, and Virgil is scared that he's going to enjoy BDSM & be seen as a perv. He's afraid people will find out & put his job in trouble.. But I think its the playing in public he don't like cause he's such a private person. I love the way he shows her he will not abuse her trust in him. I loved the ending.. I can't wait to see what happens next in the story.. I'm very sad we didn't get to see Kallie & Jake get married in the storyline... I'm not sure I'm gonna like that they ate going to stop all the kink at the cabins!!! Really??? Where is all the kinky sex gonna happen in Bear Flatt's?? I'm stunned.. Bring on the next book!! I recommend this whole series & all the other series that the Author writes as I love them all.. <3

WOW, ok, back on track. Virgil is almost too perfect for words. I had such a great visual of him at the club for the first time. The only one there that was dressed for the “theme” but not in a costume. It was awesome. Cowboy sexy is panty-melting! Damn if Summer didn’t make him work for it too. The quicker pace of a “novella” really helped this story too. It had to be quick, these two were already so set in their ways that it was going to have to be a lightning fast connection to get the ball rolling, and Cherise Sinclair gave it to us, just the way we like it. Hot, heavy, tangible connection. Even with all of Summer’s very valid fears, how was she ever going to really refuse Virgil? She didn’t stand a chance. The best twist for me was the shy sub who would only play in public and the hot and heavy Dom who wanted private. That worked for me. Side note, I understand it would be weird to have Kallie around Virgil during play, but the characters from the first couple books were so intertwined, and that seems to be slipping away. So if you are expecting a lot of fluidity in characters, I think that is slipping away, which seems weird for a series. I’m so late to the game in reading this series, I’m just wondering where it’s going. On to My Liege, guess I’ll find out soon enough. Highly recommended!

Dang, I want a Virgil! He's pretty new to the scene, and a cop on top of it. These facts keep him second guessing what's proper for him, and what satisfies his needs. There's no need for fake drama in this story, because Virgil has the same issues a real person might when trying to reconcile private acts with public persona. His character is beautifully rendered in this story!And Summer is quite real, too. She has the hesitancy and mistrust I'd expect from a victim of assault, and yet she clearly wanted to address her own needs, like Virgil. I loved that she was an experienced nurse, with the honest demeanor of a real one.I also really enjoyed how the characters worked through their fears together. Sometimes when I read BDSM book, I feel the h gets wrongly pushed into some humiliations, far beyond what should be consensual, all in the name of titillation. I've stopped reading a number of books for that reason. But this story felt very real. It was like 2 lonely, needy people pushed past their fears towards each other, and it worked perfect.And yes, the sexes smoking hot! 😍

This is such a sweet story of a man, Virgil, finding himself, and a woman, Summer, healing from a devastating assault. Virgil is the epitome of a lawman through and through. He’s honest to the core, protective, intelligent, and observant. He instinctively knows what support and direction Summer needs better than she does herself. As a result, Summer finds freedom, trust, and healing. What sealed the deal? The cutest, little spaniel puppy ever!

BDSM as written by this author usually takes place in a safe, if edgy environment, but Summer, our leading lady has had a bad experience and Virgil our Romantic lead is a somewhat reluctant participant- as he feels conflicted by his desire to dominate. This sounds like a recipe for a turgid book of guilt trips and excuses and there is a bit of that in here, although perhaps not as much as there could have been. This is not the best in this series but the writing is as always with this author very good. The style is fluid and easy to read and the characterisation is excellent. She is not a writer who throws in a sex scene with no context and she gives a really good sense of the environment be it in a city sex club or a mountain woodland. There are also some very inventive (but probably doable if you are fit enough) sex-robatics, and some straightforward creative indoor and outdoor sizzling hot and erotic sex scenes. I will get the next one in the series 3.5/5 stars from me

A beautiful little novella that is a perfect addition to a highly addictive series as a whole.We have met Virgil previously (in book 2 as Kallies cousin) and this book takes us on his journey of his first BDSM experience. Summer we've also read previously in Simon says Mine after her horrid experience with a abusive man. Both Summer and Virgil meet and the connection between them is instant. We get to read about their beautiful love story from beginning to perfect HEA.Great to see previous characters we have loved, great additional characters, a beautiful love story, hot sex scenes and an addictive read. Can't wait to read more in the series.

Virgil and Summer are a fabulous couple. This is a great story of how he builds her confidence and trust in him and really goes beyond the physical act and into true connection between BDSM partners. Mind you, so do all the other books by this author. And I love that it's created from a storyline in another of the series. Feel like these people are family. Wish they were.

Oh gosh... Will I ever tire of these books... Um... Nope.... I had been really hoping Virgil would get a story... I had a feeling there was a hidden Dom there, and this site didn't disappoint.

Another good story, read out of order but it didn't matter, shame that I have now finished this series. Hope there will be more

Cherise Sinclair is such an amazing writer, whenever she puts pen to paper it works like a charm. She really is one of the top writer's in this genre. Never disappoints, always has sizzling interactive characters. A joy to read.
