Makes ice when it works - DIY skills will come in handy when it doesn't.
When it works, it makes reasonable ice, but there are problems: First the good, easy to unbox, clean, and set up (after shipping it is good to let the item stand in proper orientation to let the compressor oil settle for a few hours). Manual is fairly useless, English is fractured and unclear. That said it has one function making ice - no adjustments - it's on and working or it's isn't. Threw away first 5 batches of ice. Thereafter ice made quickly with no strange tastes noted. It is great for counter top use in my bar area, included scoop is a small thing but a nice feature.Annoyances - seems somewhat temperamental with respect to water temperature - too cold (such as after made ice melts back into reservoir) and it only makes very small useless cubes on short cycles. Button on top is push on push off with no indication or what state it is in. Internal electronics are cheap (see below). Any warranty on this item is useless given the cost of it and associated charges for warranty service such as time spent in diagnosing issues and then returning it - this is plainly anticipated by the OEM supplier and so should be totally discounted when deciding to purchase.Cons: seriously low build quality - out of the box not a single led on top worked. Ice machine worked fine, made ice within its temperamental proclivities. After about 7 months, and after a nice batch of ice, the machine stopped working - motor turned, but no water and no refrigeration and no ice - odd? Time to disassemble machine and have a look, after useless manual provided no guidance tall. Noticed another annoying build issue when doing this, but since few will disassemble not really an issue for most. What did I find - random metal plate it ting on bottom of enclosure - serving no known purpose - loose. Poor wiring to leds - fixed that issue and behold, working lights. But the ice problem?? Ah ha! The water tray is made of ABS plastic and one end fits into the motor housing while the other has a small plastic cam that is press fit and then secured by a screw to the other end. This cam activates two micro-switches which in turn activate the pump and compressor - making ice. Because of the low quality (why not make this end metal) like the metal cap on the motor end? The cam broke off, no switch contact, no ice. A little DIY kludgery and DAP fastfuse and reassembly and we are back in the ice business, for how long is the question - plastic fatigue will set in at some point - then it will be off to that big ice machine graveyard. This is a serious failure point and for an extra $ could be avoided. Two stars since there is NOTHING except shoddy design/workmanship that could have resulted in these problems.

Absolutely Average
The ice maker died on me after only a couple months, but the company was good with replacing it, but still very unfortunate and a pain to have to deal with.Since then, the replacement has worked ok, with the exception the "needs water" light comes on too often. (as in, there is still plenty of water inside of it)Overall, does the job, but I can't imagine it lasting much longer than the warranty will cover it.

Five Stars
Works wonderfully so far. The so far is over. May 4th 2015 I bought a New Air that lasted until August 8th 2016, when I ordered the Mr. Freeze. Mr. Freeze didn't fair as well as as the New Air. Mr Freeze was delivered Sept. 1, 2016 and bit the dust this day Jan. 9th, 2017,a little over four months. Unfortunately can't give it 5 stars anymore

It's fine for two people
It's fine for two people, it's just a bit of a pain to keep dumping the tray into the freezer. If you wait until the bin is full, the ice begins to melt and after being dumped into the freezer bin it all sticks together. Even so, it filled our ice needs while running about 8 hours and I have to have my ice! Good product for the price.

Great machine
Really like it. Our ice maker went out after 2 1/2 years and was not willing to pay repair bill when the same thing will happen again. Mr Freeze was delivered quickly and I have used it almost daily. I read a lot of reviews on portable machines and so happy I chose this one. Up-date : On January 26,2017 this machine quit working, I called and talked to a clerk and she said that it was still under warranty and I would receive a replacement water pump in 7-10 days. It is February 27, 2017 and I have not received the water pump.

Works Very well as long as you dump in a Pan, Lasted 2 months past Warranty!
Makes Ice fast and well. The Ice bin is small and fills up real quick, but as long as you watch and dump it in a pan or some thing, you can make a ton of ice!Update: The Ice Machine has a one year warranty. Mine lasted 14 months

DO NOT BUY!!!
DO NOT BUY!!!! We purchased this item less than 6 months ago, and while it worked, it worked fine, cranked out ice pretty quick. My frustration is that a few days ago it stopped working, and we had to open the item up to see if we could determine what went wrong. It turns out that a small plastic rocker piece had broken off in the moving mechanism, so the tray and ice dump arm would spin and never touch the small sensor to tell it to stop. We looked at the Owner's manual to see if it was still under warranty, which it says "One year" but when you look at the proverbial fine print, it does not cover broken plastic. So now we are out $150 for this machine, plus having to purchase another one, all for a 50 cent plastic part. Incredibly frustrating, so please learn from our misfortune, and DO NOT waste you money on this machine.
