Vantec USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA HDD Adapter with case (CB-STU3-2PB)

The laptop Clear External Hard Drive Enclosure was nominally priced & arrived within the allotted time. It was easy to setup & connected directly to my Win 11 PC using the included USB Cord. It was immediately recognized & transferred data at the advertised rate, without error(s). I recommend this product & the e-Tailer who provided it.

This really isn't anything fancy but its modular design makes it very nice. I bought a couple and these are my go-to for affordable USB SATA enclosures. It uses the JMicron JMS578 controller which seems stable and reliable. I haven't had issues with it even leaving a mounted drive connected to it for months at a time with no disconnects. There are many competing products on the market. If you have multiple drives you might think you'd be better off with a simple adapter cable instead of an enclosure but this is just one of those with an included case. If you're swapping many drives you can use it outside the shell for easier switching or use the shell for more longer-term connections to protect the drive and its SATA connectors. This is basically the best of both worlds. Pros Very affordable Modular design Will protect your drive Cons The USB cable is short+stiff and non-detachable. It comes out of the side with a tiny stress relief so this will probably be the part that ultimately leads to failure over time for anyone who travels with it often. If you're not shoving it into a backpack all the time or abusing the cable it will probably last a long time though. The build quality isn't that great and has some sharp edges that would have been nicer if they were more rounded off, but that's not a big deal especially at this price point. A detachable cable or one that is longer or didn't come out at a 90 degree angle would have been nice but for the price is acceptable as is.

I’ve been using this Vantec USB 3.0 to SATA adapter since 2020 as an external drive for my PS4, and it still works flawlessly. Super fast, stable connection, and the case keeps the drive well protected. Totally reliable — plug and play every time!

A great invention, simple and quick to swap and insert another, drive and cost effective. Be advised that the device IDs are the same on all of them, so if you buy 2 to use on the same computer, some software may see only one of them.

I needed some external SSD adapter/cases. Couldn't find the ones I've typically used in the past and bought these instead. First - They work. The USB-SATA interface works just fine. Second - The plastic case is cheap and hinky. Looks like an elementary school pencil box that they've repurposed as a drive enclosure. It works, but I had to wrap the box with electrical tape to keep the top from coming open when it's moved. If you don't need to carry it, move it, then it will be fine. If portability is your goal, I'd look for another option.

I got this because I wanted to transfer contents between hard drives, and I figured this enclosure was a safe option instead of just purchasing a connector on its own. I didn't know how long transfer would take, and I wanted to have a semi-secure encasement while the transfer was happening. The connecter adapter worked well, and fast, but I was nervous that he enclosure wouldn't snap shut because the "click" that I assume was supposed to sound upon closure never happened. I kept worrying that, even though I had the case on a flat surface, the SSD would slide out. It was inexpensive enough that this qualm is minor, but it still gives me pause if I ever have to use it again.

This has been a very convenient device. I removed a laptop hard drive and connected it to this adapter. It provides portability between other computers. It serves as an external hard drive as a backup. I highly recommend.

This product was great Inexpensive has close to 3.0 speeds only thing I don't like is the USB cable it's very short so it's hard to keep things so close to ur laptop for me it gets in way of my CPU fan on laptop so has to take the heat haven't tried on a desktop yet but I can see it being a problem of just hanging there from the cable because it's extremly short they should have thought about that when they made it even option of 2 dollars more for an extention other then that it is what it is holds 2.5 hard drive sata laptop drives I like them because they work so it turned my old laptop drive to a portable drive

Compré este case para reciclar un DD de 350 gbs que tenía sin usar para aprovecharlo y ver películas y series directo en mi televisor con Android TV, el material es un plástico grueso, se me ha caído accidentalmente en dos ocasiones y no le ha pasado nada al DD, es muy fácil de armar, y tiene la opción de usarse sin el case, puedes sacar el adaptador y conectarlo al DD y usarlo sin problemas, el case es más que nada para su protección, pero si lo vas a tener en un escritorio o un lugar donde no se vaya a caer y no quieres que se caliente más de la cuenta el DD al estar dentro del case, entonces puedes usarlo así también sin problema. Las velocidades de escritura llegan entre los 100 y 120 megas x segundo, tengo un case ADATA de uso rudo y en ese las velocidades rondan entre los 70 y 90, nunca llegan o pasan de los 100. Para finalizar, es un muy buen case, bonito, sencillo, barato y funcional. Ah, y funciona MUY bien con DD sólidos.

Well I was unable to use it since my hard disk was trash, but he product works well. It is very convenient and the shell added for protecting hard disk locks in well and snug. It's great to have just incase(pun intended).
