Sweese 303.104 Butter Dish, Porcelain Butter Dish with Beech Wooden Lid, Removable Silicone Seal, Red

Good quality item and looks nice.However most standard size butters sold in UK (i.e. m&s and Lurpac) do not fit, the thickness of lid makes this dish too shallow. This makes the item mostly not fit for purpose.Some artisan blocks of butter in shallower shapes do fit but that seems to be the exception.

I absolutely love it actually.It is much larger than the one I already own and frankly larger then anticipated.I'm thrilled.Thank you Sweese for the beautiful dish, which I can not wait to use.Of course it goes without saying that I'll be using it for my absolute favourite Vegan butter block.I can not revomend it highly enough.Delivery was speedy and prompt.The parcel was very securely wrapped.

Fed up with having plastic butter tubs on the kitchen work surface I eventually bought this butter tub (eyed it up for ages before purchasing trying to justify the price)As soon as I opened it, washed it and put the butter in, I quickly realised a normal 250g block of butter doesn't actually fit! The lid didn't close, so that was the first frustration.So because the lid was touching the top of the butter I had to keep wiping it clean, when the butter got in the seal I washed it. It was never left in water or left to dry, I would wash it and dry straight away but I'm still left with a lid that has bowed and looks awful.Not happy with the quality at all to be honest.Would I buy again? No.Would I recommend? Also no.

Every now and then I receive an item from Amazon that is literally just perfect. I was almost put off buying it when someone said it was over priced - I think some of these things are really quite relative and if quality isn’t a huge issue then there are cheaper choices. I wouldn’t say I’m very rich and I’d say this butter dish is worth every penny. The minute it’s out of the box you can instantly tell it’s a high quality product, nicely carved wooden lid which can be used as a board and fits very nicely onto the dish. Enough space for a standard butter pack and then some, easy to hold, not slippy, neatly goes into fridge. Nice ceramic dish - top quality can’t fault it.

Arrived cracked, but great custoner service.Overall I spent a lot of time deciding on the perfect butter dish (much more than any sane person would, but this was the one) only to arrive damaged.Its a really nice dish, otherwise this would be 5 stars.

I'm sure if you read through various reviews of this butter dish, you may be undecided on whether the butter dish will hold a standard pack of butter bought in the UK. On that basis, we took the chance. Unfortunately, it didn't pay off. The butter dish did *not* take a standard pack of butter. As another reviewer said, the lid would end up being pressed down on the butter causing a bit of a mess. I can only think that the butter dish was made for another market such as the US.

We were looking for a ceramic butter dish with a lid that sealed properly. This item arrived well packaged and as described. Probably would have liked to pay a little less than £17.99 for it but we have no complaints about its quality. We wanted a dish that held a complete block of standard 250g butter and although this takes the block, the lid is too thick to be able to close and seal but this isn’t really a major problem, because we simply slice the top off the block and pop it next to it, as there is plenty of space inside, it does have a good capacity to be able to store all sorts of items, if you aren’t just buying it for butter as we did. The dish itself is a sturdy and sleek finish and the lid is nicely solid, fits well, without gaps and seals well. I have put the dish in the dishwasher and washed the lid by hand. All good. The seal does come away easily to clean but for the small amount of butter residue that touches the lid, a gentle wipe with warm soapy water around the edges and seal is enough. Would recommend.

Product is great. I am unlikey to buy a Sweese product again however. This is because although they enclose a free gift offer in their packaging they do not, in my experience (having corresponded with them), honour it.
