Excellent shaver. Great for beginners and experienced alike. Beautiful workmanship. Gaps and blade reveal even on both sides. Ability to adjust will quickly let you know what the best blade gap is. My honest opinion I am not paid or compensated in any way

A classic razor, works great, just a little small for my hands exchanged it for the 510 series

I give 5 stars to this razor because it's beautiful, hefty, and heavy for its size. It shaves really good and very safely. The only observation is that when it gets wet, it can be a little slippery and that was somehow annoying. A like every aspect of the razor including the plastic adjuster because it makes it look antique and unique.

I love this razor, especially with the carrying case for travel. It is aggressive, though. At least for me, any setting past 1.5 results in razor burn. But that might have to with skin sensitivity, which varies from man to man. The only improvements I can think of are: 1). The settings dot should be more visible, perhaps in red. The numbers should also be painted, easier to see. 2). Materials. I think there are some cheap metals used that won't stand the test of time and frequent use--I give it 5 to 10 years. Luckily, Merkur does sell replacement parts. I wish there were a full ss model or titanium. But, for the price, this a great razor. There's some very "Weimar Republic" or Bauhaus about it. The Merkur blades are not my favorites. I swap them out for Voskhods or Gillette Silvers.

Excellent razor - great build quality and works with every brand of razor blade I've tried in it so far . I use it on 2 for a very smooth and comfortable shave.

Cela fait 4 mois que je l'ai acheté et que je m'en sers. Il s'agit d'un excellent rasoir. Le fait de pouvoir modifier le réglage à tout moment est un vrai plus. Cela permet de s'adapter à la lame utilisée et de lui donner un petit coup de boost lorsqu'elle est en fin de vie, mais aussi d'utiliser un réglage extrêmement doux pour les poils les plus récalcitrants qui font facilement sauter les lames (chez moi autour du menton). Bilan, le rasage est systématiquement excellent et je n'ai jamais l'impression que je risque de me couper. Si ça ne rase pas assez bien, je monte le réglage. Si ça devient inconfortable, je diminue le réglage. Au final, c'est toujours pile comme il faut ! J'espère qu'il durera le plus longtemps possible. Concernant la boite, elle est pratique pour voyager. On peut en plus du rasoir y mettre 2 boites de lames.

Ero titubante sull’acquisto, dopo aver letto opinioni contrastanti su questo regolabile Merkur, ma ne ero allo stesso tempo incuriosito e attratto. E’arrivato nei tempi brevi previsti (ringrazio Amazon per l’ottimo servizio) e con la confezione integra, benché si trattasse di una semplice busta foderata in pluriball, il Progress 500 è contenuto in una scatola di cartoncino ed è posto in un contenitore di plastica, arrivato intero, comodo per il trasporto in viaggio, comprendente anche una confezione di lamette della stessa casa, che mi riservo di provare più avanti. Il rasoio si presenta ben costruito privo di qualsivoglia difetto, la cromatura impeccabile, l’allineamento della lametta è perfettamente simmetrico, il nottolino in plastica color avorio per la regolazione, per me piacevolmente retrò, è ben funzionante e alla minima esposizione della lametta la scala sul manico segna 1, il peso è ben bilanciato ed il baricentro sta a un terzo dalla testina, rendendo la sua maneggevolezza intuitiva. L’ho armato con una KAI e dopo prebarba Noxzema e insaponata con la Proraso Rossa mi sono sbarbato con la mano leggera, la rasatura è stata profonda nel verso del pelo ma allo stesso tempo gentile, seconda passata in pelo traverso ed ho ottenuto un BBS privo di irritazioni. Sono decisamente contento di questo acquisto e di come funziona, consigliato anche ai neofiti della rasatura tradizionale data la sua gentilezza alla minima esposizione ed alla possibilità di variare il gap della lametta per rasature su barbe dure o di qualche giorno.

Amazing razor. I have been using Gillette tech for almost 25yrs but this razor with the adjustable feature is really smooth.

The quality is not so good. After using the razor for a little over a year it came apart. Functionality is now reduced to a razor with fixed setting, the variable-tilt functionality is lost.
