Q: Can I use these saws for cutting high-up branches?

It’s not recommended, as the chain only has cutting teeth on one side. For high-up branches, we suggest using a double-sided saw chain. Check out our Arborist Version 2, specifically designed for cutting high-up branches.

Q: How thick are the logs I can cut and when should I use a pocket chainsaw instead of a folding saw?

The recommended cutting range for a pocket chainsaw is 2” to 18”. For larger logs, ask a friend to hold one handle and cut together. A folding saw is ideal for smaller branches and is typically limited to logs around 5” thick.

Q: How to sharpen the chain, what tools are needed and how often should it be done?

Watch our maintenance video or follow these steps: Use a standard 11/64” round file to sharpen the chain. Clean off sawdust, ensure smooth links, and apply chain oil. For 20 minutes of use every other week, sharpen once per quarter.

Q: When should I use a pocket chainsaw and in what situations?

Its compact size and lightweight design make it ideal for camping trips to cut firewood. Add it to your survival kit or store it in your glove box. It’s perfect for emergencies, such as clearing a tree blocking a road or path.

Q: How do I prevent the saw from getting stuck?

Keep the chain tight at all times—if it loosens, it’s more likely to get stuck. Maintain tension as you pull back and forth, letting the teeth do the work. Use your upper body and widen your arms to keep it moving smoothly.
