Solid, durable, easy to use - our favorite leash!!
We got the leash in this picture five years ago and it has been our go to leash for its versatility and ease of use. I see some people leaving negative reviews and I felt the need to provide an alternate perspective. This is the leash that we take to the beach 3 to 5 times a week. Finally after five years of service, the salt and sand finally wore through the clasp. But look!! The rest of the leash is in pretty good condition despite the sand and salt water and general mis-treatment by our family and dog! Obviously we immediately bought a new one when this one finally gave up.Excellent value for the money, you can’t go wrong buying this leash!

I want to love this product
This was my second leash purchase. Unfortunately we noticed a problem with the new leash we received. The thumb stud on the clasp is larger and longer. It angles down. This is great for thumb comfort. But we noticed if the leash gets twisted, our dog collar's attachment-ring can push the clasp open (because of the angled thumb clasp). It happened a second time and we stopped using the leash. I changed the clasp, re-stitching everything back and whipping with some paracord. It's upsetting that his was overlooked on the new leash. We understand that mistakes happen. We still use our original leash purchased over 4 yrs ago.

BEST leash around!
We purchased our first Krebs leash about 18 months ago. Having had many leashes over the years, I was reluctant to get yet another leash, but this one surprised the hell out of me! Even though it's recycled climbing rope, there's NOTHING wrong with it! The first one held up to a teething puppy who pulls, and only shows a little dirt. I bought a second one for the older dog, thinking that walking with the same leash would be easier, but even though I ordered the same length leash, the first one is longer. So, in contacting the seller, he sent me a THIRD leash. While having a match to the longer one would have been ideal, having two of the same sure has made it easier, as anticipated, in handling 2 dogs. These are worth their cost which really isn't significantly over the cost in the chain pet stores. I'm a confirmed Krebs leash customer!

best rope leash!
made in the usa, from reused climbing rope! cant complain about the sourcing :) the company packages it in reused brown paper bag, so the packing is even low impact and eco friendly.the rope is very high quality climbing grade rope. i've returned cheaper leashes that use the rough nylon cord... this is the real deal here. can drag it around the ground and not have to worry about it getting frayed. the rope is heat sealed where it has been clipped, looks like a good seal that won't fray over time. and where the rope is doubled over to seal the loops at either end, the bindings are covered with a bit of cloth that is sewn on, much better than some of the plastic shrink wrap that i've seen used in the past, that stuff always just slips off and becomes as hassle.only minor draw back for me was that the snap clip where it attaches to the dog's collar is quite large and heavy. a little larger than what the standard size is. if you have a little dog, something under 25lbs this might be a little burdensome for them. after awhile i came to appreciate the larger clip, as it perfectly fits the width of the rope so you can clip the leash to itself in a loop and wear it around your waist or what have you.overall its a fantastic, well made, eco-friendly, rugged dog leash. im sure this will last my pooch and i a few years :D

Works great for awhile, then the clasp fails-- unsafe
I have owned this leash for at least 2 years. At first, it was great and it was used daily for our strong 50lb pit bull who pulls sometimes on walks. Over the last 6 months the clasp has become unreliable. At first, we thought it was because we were using it with a Kurgo collar and the metal loop has sharp edges which we theorized were catching the clasp just right causing it to fail. We started using a different collar and that seemed to do the trick... until a couple of days ago. I had her leash looped around a pole as I sat to eat lunch next to her at a park. She saw a squirrel and began running toward the squirrel breaking free of her leash and running across the street. Needless to say, we will be buying a new leash with a different type of clasp since this one is unsafe to use.

My Favorite Brand of Leash
Purchased my first Krebs leash for my chocolate lab almost 4 years ago. The only reason I had to replace it with this new one is because when my dog was a puppy he chewed through the leash a bit while nobody was looking. It lasted 3 years like that before I finally caved and replaced it. these are so sturdy and durable. Highly recommend!

Unreliable clasp
I purchased this leash because my young dog proved she could chew through a flat leash in only a minute or two. As advertised this is quite durable. She could still chew through it but it would take a lot longer - long enough for me to stop her in the act. I love the fact that it is an up-cycled product. After about 6 months though the clasp has become unreliable. I don't see how it happens but too frequently the leash just mysteriously comes off her collar. I think it happens when she pulls excessively such as when she's after a squirrel. I'll purchase another though if Krebs starts to use a different clasp.

Great Leash
Our young, high energy aussiedoodle is learning to NOT grab the leash for a good game of tug-a-war, but in the meantime, she has destroyed 4 leashes. She attempts this "fun game" at least once a walk, and after several weeks, this leash still looks as good as new! We bought the 6 foot length and it's perfect for both obedience class and casual walking. This is a life-time leash; you won't be disappointed! It is now over a year later and our doodle still loves to attack this leash at the end of every walk. She loves it so much, I sometimes offer it to her as a reward during agility training! Amazingly, the leash is still as good as new! No rips, tears, or signs of wear!Nov. 2015 - We just added a second dog to the family, so we've added a second Krebs Climbing Rope Leash. The first one is still in fantastic condition! Highly recommended!!
