Ready to play
Guitar was ALMOST in tune! Generally tuning a 12-string is like tuning a centipede! Action was perfect. The guitar must have been set up before shipping. I am very impressed. No scratches. Well packed Sounds wonderful. A great purchase. UPDATE: After the initial tuning and stretching and tuning and tuning, the guitar remains in tune after almost a month.

Pure joy; solid beauty at a great price
I've played a 1970's era Japanese "Aria" acoustic guitar for many years; this 12-string was a "permission-granted" indulgence from my wife. So it was a special purchase. I love it! Yamaha is hard to beat for great but affordable music instruments. This 12-string FG820 is no exception. I'm only sorry I waited so long. There's nothing about this guitar that I cannot admire. It's pure quality, start to finish.

Looks like a Martin, Sounds like an Autoharp
Remember those zingy autoharps from grade school music class? Yeah, those. New this guitar has a bit of this vibe, but what do you expect from a $300 guitar? Solid, entry-level 12 string guitar. Excellent action and play-ability right out of the box. Love the look -- copied right from a Martin dreadnought. Big square shoulders. Thick gloss finish. Stays in tune. My only complaint--and it is a fairly major complaint--is that the sound does not match the look, at least out of the box. They CLAIM that this has been revoiced with scalloped bracing for a bassier and more robust sound. I don't hear it. It sounds like they put on extra light strings and overbraced to avoid warranty issues. This is EXTREMELY bright sounding. It is a solid-top guitar so that brightness might disappear over time with some aggressive strumming; every new guitar will only get better with playing. I did strung ‘er with mediums and raised the action with a new bone bridge saddle: much better, more robust. I'm excited to see what how this baby will sound in a year.

Excellent guitar for the price
Great sounding 12 string. Did not need professional set up, action was acceptable and playable right out of box. There are some minor flaws but that is in comparison with high end guitars; otherwise great value for the price.

Once gain, Yamaha proves too be a trustworthy choice for musical instruments. This is my fourth Yamaha purchase" an APX600 acoustic electric that I love, a digital grand piano I spend hours on it,, a 61 ksynthesizer with too many features to list here, and now a beautiful 12-string that rings. Like a belI.
