We opened this up Easter afternoon and checked it out. It took 3 x AA batteries and has a simple on off sliding switch. Its very simple. We happened to have duck and chicken eggs, it worked well with both. We have some small chicken eggs (smaller than you would buy from a store) and they did not work. The markers are really high quality and pretty much all some sort of pastel tone. This made it really simple to make a beautiful design that just looked amazing. No color combination would look wrong. Our daughter is almost 3 and she was able to handle this all by herself. At first the hardest part for her was just opening the caps on the markers. She eventually figured that out, and was getting really good at decorating eggs all on her own. I can see us continuing to use this outside of Easter time just for the fun activity. I feel like the markers will last at least as long as the batteries. Just look how beautiful they turned out. Markers don't smell, no egg dye to spill, unique beautiful eggs with minimal effort and fun for the little ones. I feel like activities like these are encouraging our daughter to be creative and building her confidence along the way because she is successful doing what she attempts.

A little pricey for what it is but offered a cute activity for my young kids during Easter time. Easy to operate and place eggs in. Even my 2 year old figured out how to use this to decorate eggs, although it was better suited for my 4 year old for independent play. We used wooden eggs which worked well. I liked how all the colors worked well with each other to make some lovely eggs.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this item. I was afraid it might be cheesy and not last long I am delighted to report it was made well and easy to use by my 1 and 4 -year old grandsons, who enjoyed it immensely. I wish I had had this as a child because the results are satisfying. It isn't just for children either. I would buy this for myself to color eggs and I can see it being used in a senior setting. I bought a package of food-grade markers for the real eggs we colored. and I used the markers that came with the kit for the wooden eggs we colored. I believe it will last for many years and I look forward to using it again next Easter. We added some personalization to some of the eggs. A flower, a heart, a sticker here and there. It is much easier than making dye cups and IMHO it is more enjoyable and the results are better. We even used some colored plastic eggs. It worked but the wooden eggs were better. I have already recommended it to a daycare center and others. I would buy it again. I thought the price was steep but when I saw it in person it was in line for the quality of the item.
