Smaller but stronger
The vise (120mm) is smaller overall than I expected, but is absolutely stronger than I had right to imagine. It is perfect for all my home machinist tasks... the jaws are fixed but I will fabricate aluminum soft jaw inserts to hold my work.

German Vice. Quality you expect.
I wanted something besides the cheap Wilton clones. I decided to try this one when a deal came up. This is their lower end model and the jaws are not removable. However I have never in 30 years replaced a vice jaw in my workshop so I'm comfortable with that risk. They do sell ones with removable jaws if you want. The action on this vice is smooth and precise. And it just looks different and cool.

I have only used it a couple times but expect the vise to last a lifetime. Almost zero slop and does its job well: holding work securely.

Perfect size!
I wanted the best money can buy, but I wasn’t sure on the overall dimensions of this vise, but it ended up being the perfect size. I installed it on my mobile tool dresser on top of the 100mm swivel base and it’s perfect. I’d suggest putting a bit of blue locktite on the hex head bolt that holds the swivel lock.

Replaceable jaws
Just so that you know, these German vises do not have the option to change the jaws. Amazon isn’t telling you that. Nor is it telling you the sizes that are available: 100, 120, 140, 160, and 180 mm in jaw width. You would think that a pricey vice like these should have replaceable jaws. As a machine as myself, it’s a must. As much as I like these vises, they’re just too expensive. Back in the day, all vises came with the rotating table. Now you have to buy them separately. It’s really discouraging that you can’t buy quality tools anymore at a reasonable price. As a result, you have the Chinese market inundating it with substandard vices that are so cheap, a law ought to be created against greed, poor quality, and wasting material.

Excellent addition to my shop. Finally a vice that holds what I put in it. I don't know how I can pound on the anvil though, it is too beautiful?
