cant get needle nose pliers around the battery any other way to remove it?

I had to buy a new collar/receiver recently and when the battery failed, I found there was no way to remove it, with needle nose or other pliers. I assume PetSafe glued the little bugger in there. Fortunately I had an older battery which was easily removable by grabbing the end of the battery with needle nose, like usual. I hope you don't have a new battery like I did cause there was no way to get that one out - I used a lot of force on it.
