It illuminates as someone gets close to it.

These are fabulous. Anyone who worries about intruders might consider adding this to their home. Especially if you have security cameras as this will light up as soon as someone walks on to your property and the cameras can see better. We bought and easily installed (screwing alight bulb in) so that if someone were to drive or walk up to our home the lights would click on. The nice thing is if you are having a party and want the lights on without shutting off you flick the switch 3 times and they are like normal lights. You can easily go back to security lights when the party is over and you are off to bed.One caution, the lights need motion to go off. Some light fixtures hang down and the motion may not work as easily as if they were directed out to a moving object. We still have this bulb in our pendant but it goes off a little later. This means if someone walked up to our front door it would not go off until they were under the pendant. Boom a ray of light on them. Perfect for us. We find this product to be outstanding and have recommended this to our friends. Its just one more way to stay safe.

This worked great for 23 months. Then the motion sensor stopped working and the light just stayed on.

Not much to be said. These are great bulbs for the money and very bright which might be a concern for some. These were for our garage so bright is good. My only complaint is I wish the motion detection was just a bit more sensitive. I have a LIFX bulb inside the garage that will go on as soon as I open our garage side door. These bulbs are installed inside the house at the top and bottom of our stairs leading to the garage. When I open our hallway door the light doesn't turn on until I move through the door. I would expect it should turn on as soon as it detects the door swing open like our LIFX bulb. BTW, I've that bulb for at least 5 years now and I can't find it anymore. To finish, I'm still very satisfied with these bulbs but they would not work very well if installed in a light fixture.

Currently using on my back deck. The sensor is exposed in the light fixture so it works as it should. Motion is detected quickly and the bulb is bright. Happy with the purchase and would buy again.

The 12 watt bulbs consume more power than most standard 60 watt (9 watt) equivalent LED bulbs.Pros: made for outdoor environments, bright warm light. Seems like a quality build.Cons: Very directional motion sensor is on bottom of bulb, so in the wrong fixture this motion sensor is useless. You practically have to pass directly under it to trigger it on. Not very useful unless you want a spot light application.There may be others who have differing needs, but sorry - these don’t work for me.Update: of course, in the outdoor fixture the coverage range is limited. When I installed them in the laundry/furnace room the results were different. My wife enjoys the wide range, hands free trigger. There they work well. I guess you just need the right application to get the desired results. The unshaded bulb stays on for about 3 minutes. Much better coverage and service. A decent product for the price.

I’m very impressed with the light bulb so far.

I love these lights. I got two 2-packs for my three outdoor lights. One of the four bulbs didn't work correctly out of the box. It would stay on too long, come on for no reason (when the others around it didn't). I replaced that one with the fourth bulb I bought, and it worked. I would have given this 5 stars, but a 25% defective rate seems high with my small sample size.
