Things (A Critical Inquiry Book)

Diverse collection - lead essay is still the strongest
As with any collection of essays, it depends on what you are reading for in order to really suss up the value of the book. Bill Brown's landmark essay (the opening piece) is still probably the most useful, and can be found elsewhere (try JSTOR), so if one is seeking just a general overview to the fascinating concept of Thing Theory, go there, and perhaps bypass the book. But some of the other essays do flesh out the concept well (and some not so well), including a really interesting critique of poststructuralism as an idea. I won't be able to use all of it, but enough of it was good to make it worthwhile for my current research.
