Jimmy Red Corn Famous Bootlegger Moonshine Grits Hominy Masa Heirloom Seeds for Planting Packet

I started these seeds early. They sprouted in about a weeks time and are starting to grow. (I have them protected since and our average last frost date is still two weeks away) Jimmy Red corn makes the best grits! The flavor is just amazing, a bit sweeter than most corn varieties. The corn can be used for decoration if you let them dry on the stalk. I like the fact that they are an heirloom variety and not genetically modified. They usually have two ears per stalk usually, so there will be a good yield. I'm looking forward to my first harvest. ***if you want to plant early, google "average last frost date in _______(your area)" to make sure its safe to plant, or if you will need to cover them during the night as I did until that date has passed. I am at a higher elevation, so that is why I start my seeds early.

Bought a pack (somewhere else but from Sherwoods Seeds) and had 9 of 21 germinate. They send a card with 100% guarantee so I emailed them twice. No response. Ordered two more packets and planted them. 21 of 43 germinated. Not even going to contact them but a waste of money and a waste of time contacting them.

Seen like most I have planted. Have sprouted still to early in the season to rate the corn

I bought these to try for the 2022 summer. I live in a zone 9. Planted in late February and they did really well at first. About 75% germination rate in ground. Sadly I didn't really get any corn. I got 1 ear in the whole crop. I would like to stress this is not the fault of the seeds. May saw our tempatures rise to over 39c ( 102) with indexes being much higher.The corn plants survived but unfortunately corn pollen dies at very high temperatures. So when harvest time came on the solstice nothing really formed due to pollen death.It seems to be a good product, I will be ordering again and replanting in July for November harvest. Hopfully we will see temperatures under 30c for fall. I will update review after then.
