Who Was Dr. Seuss?

Arrived quickly. Exactly what we expected.

My son had to read a bio for a class project and he chose Dr. Seuss. He enjoyed the book very much and he did a short report on what he learned about him. He even had to take an AR test... He past the test with a 95% and did his report with no problem. I like these books because they're easy to read and you can learn a lot of info about someone in a short period of time. He's already read his next bio in the "Who Was" Series, about Johnny Appleseed. These books are perfect for 3rd, 4th, 5th graders who need to make up AR points or to write a report about someone famous in History.

We studied Dr. Suess leading up to his birthday and release of The Lorax movie. After reading several of his books, this biography was just what we needed and wanted to find out more about the man behind all the fun stories and characters. The kids enjoyed reading this book, and it just added to their excitement when reading his cute stories and watching the movie. It was not a drag to read, and I didn't have to ask them to read more - they wanted to keep reading! This man led an interesting life, and this is a great book, perfect length, with nice illustrations. I recommend all the books in this series, but Who Was Dr. Seuss is at the top of the list.

This was a great book that my son used for his 3rd grade history project. It's well written and written at a level that children can understand. We will be purchasing more of this series

I think we were introduced to these books at our school library initially. Since then, we purchase them all of the time. You can learn so much about people and places and the kids read them over and over. I wish I had thought of these!!!!!!

More than just a book about Dr. Seuss' life, this book places many of his most famous works in the context of both his life, and the world. This discusses events the affected him, and shaped the man he became, as well as how he learned, grew and evolved over his lifetime. Near the end it brings up just how many Americans receive a Dr. Seuss book when they are first learning to read, and that "Oh, the Places You'll Go" has become a popular graduation gift. It is increasingly rare to meet someone who is unfamiliar with the work of Dr. Seuss, yet this book discusses the depth that was most likely lost on many of us as children.

I wish this series had been around when I was a kid! So far, I have purchased Jim Henson, Dr. Seuss, George Lucas, The Beatles and Walt Disney for my son. These books are a great way for me to introduce the people who have always inspired me, to my own children. I believe that reading about different creative talents throughout history is not only a great way for kids to learn but also a great way to inspire them. We always have great conversations when we discuss the people from these books because we teach each other new things.

娘がWalt Disney の本を買ったので真似してこの本を選びました。１冊１００ページ程度で英語好きな中学３年生なら読めると思います。（文法的にです）１センテンスが長くないので、英語の本を読んでみたいなーという人にはちょうどよいと思います。１チャプターも数ページなので、寝る前の１０分読むだけでもいいでしょう。Dr.Seussの本は持っていながらその楽しさがよくわからなかったのでこの人物を選びました。読んだ後はGREEN EGGS and HAMを読んでみたくなりました。彼の生きてきた時代の説明もところどころにあるので、アメリカから見た日本のことが書かれているのも興味深かったです。次はRoald Dahl を購入します。

Great summary on the person of Dr Seuss, the creator of many books we have all enjoyed. His books many of us learnt to read through.
