Helps significantly
I actually have a smaller dog but bought the medium size because she'll barrel at full speed towards something while on long-line. I was a bit concerned that the medium was too "stiff" for her but it works well and significantly reduces the strain on her and myself while playing in open fields and on walks. The swivel bolt snap also is pretty strong, so I don't have to worry about it breaking or her getting out of it unlike the ones on some leashes. Highly recommend if you have a dog that will jerk you or if you run with your dog at all.

Problem Solved (UPDATED)
I have a 90-lb Lab/Golden Cross that likes to run to the end of the lead. The shock - for both him and me - was considerable, so I went looking for some sort of "strain relief".The JERK-EASE works well, and solves the problem - no more "shock" when the dog reaches the end of the leash (especially when I'm walking him on a Flexi-Lead that's 16' long!). For the money, it's definitely a good value.A couple of considerations when purchasing a strain relief:1) The JERK-EASE comes in several different "sizes" (Small, Medium, Large), based on the weight of the dog. I got the Large size because my dog weighs 90 lbs. However, the strain relief is pretty "heavy duty" (consisting of a pair of thick bungee cords) and so provides a limited amount of "stretch". If you need/want more "stretch", you may want to consider a smaller size, but of course, be careful not to buy too small a cord (in my case, the Medium size is for dogs up to 60 lbs, and so wouldn't be appropriate for a 90-lb dog).2) The Large size is, as you would expect, "heavier" and can add weight to the end of the lead. Consequently, you may find that the lead has a tendency to drag the ground where the strain relief is attached, and the dogs front feet may become entangled in the lead. This probably isn't an issue with a conventional collar, but if you use a choke chain (like I do) the weight of the strain relief can be a factor. All in all, it's a great value (very good quality, good price), and I highly recommend it.UPDATE: After reading my review, the maker of the JERK-EASE, Vanex Industries, contacted me, and offered to exchange the Heavy JERK-EASE for the Medium, so that I could try out the lighter-weight version to see how it worked with my dog. It worked fine. Actually, I was quite happy with both the Heavy and Medium versions, and elected to purchase both of them, as they both work well in my particular situation. In summary, as I already mentioned, the quality of this product is excellent and the product definitely addresses and solves the problem. Also, I might point out that the product is "Made in the USA" (yea!) and Vanex has demonstrated a commitment to customers' satisfaction.

A Great Product, I Just Wish It Was More Durable
I purchased the medium bungie early May for my now 40 pound puppy. It worked amazing during our walks while she was learning her loose leash manners. Over the last almost 3 months it has slightly stretched out and after a very exciting time at the beach the elastic snapped entirely. The fabric covering the elastic still held the leash together so she was still on a leash but there was no more bungie. Overall, I give this product 4 stars because it is a great training tool, but I wouldn't use it long term unless you expect to replace it regularly for heavy pullers or lungers. I'm going to purchase the large instead of the medium to see how well it works for her in hopes that it will last longer than 3 months.

This is NOT a bungee leash.
We have used this on our high drive working dog for 3 years now and it’s performed beautifully. This is a shock absorber, designed to minimize the jolt associated with lunging so that both you and the dog are safer from injury. It is not a bungee leash. It will not turn a lunge into no shock at all. If that’s what you need, look elsewhere.

Good temporary solution
I purchased this as a temporary solution to a dog we recently adopted because he pulled on walks and it made my shoulder sore. Product worked as intended and helped relieve the sudden jerk when our dog (80 lbs and very strong) reached the end of the retractable leash. It is a heavy-duty bungee and the clasp is also very sturdy. I have complete confidence in the product and it helped absorb the shock of my dog when he was pulling on walks. My permanent solution has been much more effective which was enrolling our dog in training classes and he now never pulls on the leash and I no longer need this product. However, I think this product was a good solution until I could get my newly adopted dog into an obedience class.

Elastic stretches -- wears out
It worked great at first. After four months, the elastic stretched on both ends by the connections. Now it's weak and about to break. The snap-back bungee effect is gone. I have a small dog.

It’s really well made
I got the larger size than recommended because I didn’t think it would be strong enough, but it is. It’s really well made, with just enough stretch to take the jolt out of a pull, but not enough to loose control. we’re loose leash training, so if my dog pulls I stop, and the elasticity gives him a gentle correction. It might be coincidence but since we started using it, he’s actually walking way better and pulling way less. As a training aid it’s great. And it helps my hands.

Great product Came unattached one time, maybe rubbed up against harness
Terrific product. I have a 65lb rottweiler Shepherd so I bought the heavy duty one. It dissattached one time, perhaps it rubbed against the dog's harness. Now I clip it from underneath the ring, so the latch is less likely to rub against the harness

Exactly what I was looking for
Quality made and perfect when used attached to the car harness in the back seat for my small dog, the bungee helps if I brake suddenly and will take some of the impact of the harness jolting my dog, but sturdy enough not to snap.
