The mechanism is on springsAnd Amazon's warranty is only a month.SOG itself has a lifetime warranty on their website, but they are lying. If you write to them, they will only offer you a discount on another knife.In general, think for yourself, the spring can break at any time and you can throw the knife away.

Excellent Blade Steel, nice looking, painful thumb stud
Just picked up one of these because of the looks and the D2 blade. Not the most expensive knife I've ever owned but decent value for the money. The blade comes extremely sharp, holds an edge well and sharpens back up nicely.The thumb stud on the knife is plastic (gotta cut a couple corners to get the price down) and looks cool but functionally is very sub-optimal. Flick the knife open a couple of dozen times and the semi-pointy thumb stud starts feeling like it is digging into your thumb (probably because it is digging into your thumb) and after a day of this I was cursing the damn thing.Fortunately, the thumb stud can be removed, and I ended up replacing it with a flatter metal thumb stud from one of my other knives, problem solved. Apparently SOG didn't spend a great deal of time on 'user acceptance testing' because I've seen this same problem discussed on Knife forums and the fix would be incredibly easy to implement during the manufacturing process.If you don't happen to have a spare thumb stud lying around, you could probably remove the original one and carefully grind the 'point' off of it to make it a little less uncomfortable.

Decent knife
I bought this on a whim, for $75 roughly at a local store and i have mixed feelings. The primary issue for me is the difficulty in opening the knife. Itcertainly keeps its edge well, and cuts through just about anything without having to push too hard. Very comfortable in handling. It's certainly not for fidgeting.

Great knife
I carry this daily. Fits nicely in my back pocket. The opening action is super quick and feels great. The safety works and doesn't get annoying.

Now my favorite everyday carry knife.
SOG makes great knives. Excellent quality and value. Easy open!! We’ll balanced. A keeper for sure. Already gifted a couple of this knife!
