The Book of Five Rings: The New Illustrated Edition

I thought it would be “paperback sized” but it’s A4 so there’s only 36 pages. It’s a bit like a large print brochure to be fair.One or two typos per page but no “howlers” considering it’s a translation from Japanese, a written language that is known for being difficult to put into English.Having said that I like the content, you could skim through it in no time but I don’t think you should, it’s worth thinking about each “ring” (section) before you move to the next.

The media could not be loaded. The Book of 5 Rings translated by Thomas Cleary was at least 160 pages with clear and detailed pictures.This however is an A4 leaflet with 37 pages of text without headings or paragraph breaks and badly photocopied pictures.Don’t bother with it.

Cheap A4 print of a shotty translation

I expected a book and got a poorly laid out pamphlet. Given the source material, I could do better myself. The original chapters or notes, were run out with no pagination. Spacing and paragraphs were nonexistent.

The other cheaper version with the grey Last Samurai cover is below basic but this one looks a much better value for money.

Bought this for a friend as I already have a copy of the book. This version is not a book but more like a pamphlet. Wish I had read the reviews before I bought it.

Brilliant translation from the late great Thomas Cleary. Only disappointment is that the pictures are not in colour

This book was absolutely incoherent. Half sentences. Bad translations. Just terrible. Not even suitable for an illiterate spastic

The book itself is an amazing piece of literature by one of the greatest samurai ever to exist. Miyamoto musashi. That being said, there are a bunch of errors and misspellings in this particular print of the book.

Purchases the paperback came like a A4 37 page brochure. Was not was I expected so take this as warning. Translation to English to Japanese makes it simplistic to read but no WOW moments found

Boring read. Not much writen about.
