Great compass
As an Army Ranger / Green Beret, I have used this compass for over 20 years and bought it for my sons, who are serving in the Army. Reliable, durable and better than the issue lensatic compass. Never got lost thanks to this terrific tool.

Great quad compass with a few flaws
Great compass. Smooth operating, easy to adjust declination. But two flaws:1. The raised lettering for the primary and 45° directions is not painted, making it very hard to read unless you have a bright or “raking” light source. When cloudy or slightly dark, the letters are basically unreadable. Tried to fix by painting the letters, which is somewhat ok but they should come painted as on the previous version of Silva Quad Ranger.2. The lanyard is too short.

Works as expected so far.
I use the compass professionally as a land surveyor. So far it has worked as expected but only time will tell how it will hold up.
