Star Wars: 10 Exciting Selections from the Movie Saga Arranged for Piano with Optional Duet Accompaniments (5 Finger)

My husband and I started taking piano lessons together a year ago. We've been transitioning beyond five finger songs, and this has been a fun book to use for that! We're practicing one of the duets right now. The previous owner of the copy we purchased used color ink to mark it up, though. That's the only reason for the minus one star.

The 5-finger set up is great for beginners, but the melodies are not accurate. I am having to go through and modify them for my students, which kind of defeats the purpose of having an easy 5-finger version. On the other hand, at the level this book is intended for-- brand-new beginners-- students will need a teacher to teach them measure-by-measure anyway. Teachers, just expect that you will have to fill in and/or change some notes to fit the actual tunes, and tell your students to play the rhythms as they know them from the movies, rather than attempting to play the rhythms as written out. (This applies more to advanced beginner students who understand rhythm...)

Overall, I love this book and the concept behind it, and so does my son. However a few of the songs were hard to recognize once simplified enough to fit the concept of the book (each hand had 5 notes and that's it.) It is better once you add the optional teacher/parent part, so I think I just need to brush up on my own piano skills. Anyway, a great way to motivate beginning piano students who are Star Wars fans!

My student is 7 years old and has been playing for about 6 months. A few of these songs are definitely within reach for him. About half of them are pretty out of the question for right now, but he has exciting options even still. He was so excited when I showed him the book. He gasped and just sat, flipping through the pages in awe. I was trying to show him the joys of piano and I believe I have done that. Two of the songs are pretty simple, not requiring any sharps or flats or too much deviance from basic middle C and C positions. I would recommend it.

I was unsure what to expect with this book as some of the reviews said it was too difficult and others said it was easy but none really told what level their child was at. I bought it for my son thinking that if it was too hard we would save it for a time down the road. As it turned out it was perfect for him. He is Six years old and has been taking piano for one year. He is very good at reading notes but is still learning to play both hands at the same time - I hope that gives some idea of what level he is playing at. The music has lots of sharps and flats in it but can be easily memorized as their are lots of repeats. The good thing about this music is that if your kid is a star wars fan and is familiar with the music the memorization should be easy and they can use their ear to sound it out.

Having had 1yr of piano lessons, this book was perfect for my son. So far he has also played one duet from the book with his piano teacher. It was excellent! He's one happy kid.

I ordered this book in hopes of getting my two boys, ages 6 and 8, interested in the piano. Well, it worked. It was very easy to teach them the basics so they could get the general idea of the song. They have been begging for more "lessons" so that they can play them better. I don't know if this will spark an actual interest in piano, but it has helped them learn the process and they have gotten better at reading notes. The songs really do sound like the real thing. Overall, if you are looking for a great beginner's book for Star Wars music, you can't go wrong with this one!

I purchased several copies of this book for my piano students. It worked perfectly for my beginner students who are on levels 1B or 2 in their lesson books. I looked through several other Star Wars Books, but they were too challenging. This one appears to be just right for several of my students. They are loving it! I highly recommend this book. Students are able to get the timing correct, and even the irregular finger patterns. These fun songs help them in their motivation to practice.

Great little book! My 6 year old son had been taking piano lessons for 6 months but was starting to lose interest. I bought him this book and he is transformed! His piano teacher plays the accompaniment and he plays the nice easy part. It has totally renewed his enthusiasm for learning the piano as he can now see that with a little practice he can play "proper" music that he loves! He's playing one of the pieces with his teacher at a music concert next month - although his part is simple, the duet sounds great!Highly recommended!

This is great. to be fair only 3 theme tunes i really recognise but I have an 8 year old who can't play the piano at all has memorised the patterns for the main theme tunes really easily and loves it. Just a bit of fun really.

Libro non adatto per chi comincia a suonare. È sì sulle 5 dita ma l’autore fa uso di tonalità con molte alterazioni. I brani sono molto corti, e l’accompagnamento del maestro è davvero molto scarno. Un minimo di elaborazione per rendere i brani più accattivanti sarebbe stato l’ideale. Trascrizioni che può fare chiunque con un minimo di esperienza. Diteggiature molto discutibili.
