Incredibly bright
I baught this as a light source for an optical fiber solution. It's brightness blew me away right away. It is too bright for the eye even to just glance for a fraction of a second. It is well built and the heat sink is solid and well connected.I did not notice any heat at all coming from the LED. You can control the amount of light with a series resistor. Be sure to use a resistor with appropriate power rating. Otherwise the resister will heat up fast and may even get damaged.I used different series resistors to change the amount of current. The amount of light did not reduce much when I changed the current gradually from 250mA to about 100mA. It was still almost as bright.Great LED that produces incredible amount of bright photons with even a relatively low current. Highly recommend if you're looking for a small LED that puts out lot of light for little current.

Functional, good quality, not what's pictured on the product page
Didn't get the same leds that are pictured on the product page but they're functionally identical. Old school 3 chip led with separate cathode and annode for each color. Confirmed it draws about 2.5W when all three are lit and they can be dimmed down pretty low. Good for basic projects but don't forget some heatsinking or cooling if you're gonna run them at higher outputs for long periods. They do get warm.

Produces Quite A Bit Of Light
I use this to illuminate the inside of a sump pump pit so I can monitor the water level and be sure the pump is operating properly.

Bright easy replacement, just two connections.
Quality fabricated, controllable bright white light. Many uses, but i used them for microscope illumination. Generous size heat sink, and led comes soldered precisely centered. Haven't had even one fail yet.The top surface carries + and - connections, so I used plastic rather than metal screws to fix the device in place.Seller gives information including maximum wattage and forward voltage. Can you buy a heat sink and LED separately? Yes, but here is the necessary combination already precisely put together for you.

Extremely bright but . . .
Mine didn't work at all at 3 volts. Or 4.5 volts. I tried it at 9 volts (no resistor) and, whoa, BRIGHT! However, at 9 volts the life expectancy of this diode would probably be minimal. When wired with a 220 ohm resistor (didn't have any 270 ohm resistors) it's still bright but not overly so. I have other cheaper LEDs that are brighter at a lower voltage. So, not recommending this LED.

Bright Light, Poor documentation
For an $8 LED, you'd expect there to be complete documentation, but nope. The PCB has screen printing to identify the colors of the pins and pads, but they didn't bother including polarity. Even the technical drawing for the LED in the product description isn't accurate for the LED I received. While the voltage and current are accurate enough, I ended up doing some cautious experimentation to figure out the polarity. Headsink board seems promising, but felt it was worth making my comments and what I learned in a review before I got too far into implementing it into a project. It feels promising, but again, the lack of useful documentation is disconcerting.

Perfect solder-in replacement for Bauer miter saw shadow line
I bought this to replace a dim LED in a Bauer 10 inch sliding miter saw, that is used for the shadow guide, an incredible feature of the saw. If you know how to solder, it’s easy to replace. Very bright and white rather than warm. If that’s what you want, it’s perfect. It’s what I wanted, so it’s perfect.

These are stupid bright
I just double checked the polarity on mine and I'm still seeing remnants in my vision. Quite bright. Admittedly I didn't use a resistor and managed to burn out the red so don't be like me. Zero documentation on these but assuming they are made consistently if you hold them up so that the RGB lettering is right-ways up positive is on the left side and negative on the right. These ill work down to around 2-2.5 v but at that point they are very dim. Once you hit 5 or more they really start to shine. If you need to put out a light of any color and these are a good option.
