Excellent Grab Bar
This suction handle works much better than we expected. We bought this model because we wanted one with the little suction indicators, but that feature turned out to be fairly useless for us in practice since the indicators are very small and hard to see where we have the handle mounted, especially in the relatively dim light in the shower. However, the handle itself works extremely well. Our shower tile have a smooth finish, although they do not have an entirely flat surface. Even so, as long as we apply the suction cups in the main part of the tiles (e.g., away from the edges which tend to slope a little), this handle stays stuck. At first application, it stayed in place for several weeks without losing any perceptible suction, and it only came off when we took it off to clean the shower. After putting it back in place, it has stayed in place until removing it for cleaning every time. We could not ask for better performance from a non-permanent handle!A few tips: 1) Make sure you have tile that is smooth and flat enough that a suction cup can stick to them; 2) Remove any trace of soap deposits on the tile where you want to place the handle (e.g., make sure the tile is clean!); 3) Clean the suction cups to remove any trace of anything, including lint and dust; 4) Moisten the suction cups before sticking them to the wall; and 5) press the handle firmly against the tile before applying the suction to make sure you get the maximum suction possible.Remember that these grab bars are not intended for hanging on, but rather for improving someone's stability in a shower/bath. Suction from a rubber cup in a plastic unit can only withstand so much force. I have, however, put at least 40-50 pounds of pulling force on this just to check it out before using it and from time to time to see how it's doing, and it has handled that amount of force with no problems.

Doesn't stay securely attached
The look is fairly attractive to this grab bar, but I've had no luck getting this thing to stay securely attached to the shower stall wall. I've got a tiled shower stall and this seems to attach well at first (and the green tabs indicate it is locked in place), but within 5 minutes it comes loose and falls off the wall. Disappointing and you can't trust it be safe.

An occupational therapist's honest review
Jackie the home health O.T. here to give an honest review of this suction cup grab bar. I don't normally recommend suction cup grab bars. It's always preferred to have regular grab bars installed. (Side note: if someone tells you that regular grab bars cannot be installed into an acrylic tub, they are misinformed. They absolutely can -- you just need a professional to use specialized equipment).PROS:- They can take a good amount of pull. I have a patient who used them that was around 250 pounds and felt very safe- They are much less expensive than having other grab bars professionally installed- You can move them around (great for renters)- Good grip with the ribbed surfaceCONS:- My #1 con is that the indicator colors (red and green) are so difficult to visually see. C'mon, people are often visually impaired as they get older. Make the indicator colors bigger!- Not recommended for tile walls. You don't want any air getting underneath the suction portion of the grab bars.- Can only be on flat/not curved surfaces. (see reason above)- I would recommend it for someone who needs something to keep them steady. I wouldn't bet it would prevent me from falling if I slipped and was holding onto it.Notes:**Always check your grab bars before you use the shower!****Always bring a phone into the bathroom with you if you don't have a medical alert device and keep your back or front door unlocked in the event you need to call 911. OR! Call a friend/family member prior to taking a shower so they can check in on you afterwards.****I recommend buying two grab bars. One vertically for the short wall and one on a diagonal on the long wall of your tub****Also don't forget your shower chair! You want your hips, knees, and feet at a 90 degree angle**

Work Great. Needs Constant Cleaning.
I have purchased 4 support bars. I like them very much. I have found it necessary to remove the bars, clean the wall and suction cups and then reattach. I do this weekly otherwise they do eventually slip.

This gives me great confidence in the shower but....
I have a fiberglass shower. I made sure it was very clean before I attached the grab bar and it was very secure for my morning shower. It does, however, loose it's suction over the course of 24 hours....every day. But I reattach it before my showers and it is fine. I am happy with the grab bar overall, but I do wish it would stay put.

Originally ordered for an elderly parent a few years ago and re-ordered when suction seemed to fail on the original. It turned out that with a good clean, the original is still going strong and I now have a spare. The lady using it is quite slight of build and it works well but cannot comment on its suitability for someone who is of a larger/heavier build.

Requires smooth surface and 4" tiles, or no tiles at all
I had to return this product because it simply will not work. The description does not tell you that it is designed for SMOOTH surfaces, and MAY work on tiles, but they would have to be 4 inches square. My shower wall has 3 5/8" squares with a kind of a uneven surface -- designed intentionally that way.The suction cup its self is 3 5/8" and you need a bit of area on the tile a bit bigger to be able to create a suction. The ends must be spaced so that even if you can get one end to hold a suction, the other end can as well. The distance between the ends of this product is designed for 4" tiles or walls with no tiles..I did a lot of searching for this product. I can tell you with a lot of confidence that there is unlikely to be any suction cup based product that will work on the type of surface I describe. I have tried two different products on Amazon and returned both. Amazon's descriptions are simply inadequate.I even had a chat with an Amazon rep who assured me it would work. Clearly, it does not.
