Q: would this spreader adjust to narrow parts of my lawn?

yes, slow the drop rate and walk slower, also tilt the spreader forward as your walking. You can also tilt the spreader up on one wheel (only one of the wheels spins the spreader wheel) for small strips and around flower beds. some times i use a hand held spreader . I have two of these, i bought in 2008 used all year round salt and fertilizer. I do about 20 yards 5 times a year with fertilizer. Have 12 jobs i salt sidewalks in winter. This would last home owner for a lifetime. Some of the bolts rusted but were easily replace.

Q: how hard is it to assemble.

Takes about 1-1/2 hours. Follow the instructions EXACTLY, as the order of assembly is frequently important. Requires 7/16" wrenches, pliers, large philips screwdriver. If you have basic small tool skills, you can do it.

Q: will this spreader adjust to narrow sections of my lawn (apx 3' wide)?

I just go slower in narrow sections and it works fine. I sometimes adjust the setting to a lower number also.
