Great Coffee Alternative!
Choffy is a great coffee alternative for dark chocolate lovers. Just a cup of Choffy will give you increased energy, minus the jitters or nervousness that comes with regular coffee. When compared to Crio Bru, Choffy was lacking in the flavor and richness area, even when it was brewed the same as Crio Bru. However, Choffy is less expensive than Crio Bru, so if you're looking for a cheaper alternative, Choffy would be my recommendation.

Interesting flavor....
Let me first say that I am NOT a coffee drinker. I've tasted coffee a couple times, so I'm familiar with the horrible taste. lol First, I bought the Nigeria and Volta for comparison since both of them had similar reviews, and in my opinion the Volta has the best flavor. With that said, the flavor from cacao is definitely not like a hot chocolate drink, the bitter flavor lends itself to coffee with a slight chocolate after-taste. If you're trying to find a coffee alternative I can see cacao as being a good choice, especially the dark roast versions. I use the Body Chambord French Press to brew the cacao.Pros: Interesting bitter dark chocolate flavor. Already ground and in a resealable bag. Cacao is 'supposed' to be good for you.Cons: Definitely an expensive drink. Like coffee, its an acquired taste. Cleanup with the French Press is a pain. Takes a long time to brew.

The dark has a really storing taste.. it's really good with creamer mixed with heavy cream and a little bit of sugar

Tastes good, too expensive for what it is
This tastes like chocolate, no bitter aftertaste (unless you steep it too long). I brewed it the same way I do coffee, steep it in hot water for a few minutes (I use a Pyrex mixing cup) then run it through a pour over filter into my mug. Drank with no sugar, but added a small scoop of powdered MCT oil and frothed it. It really was good tasting.I don't know if I experienced any energy gain from this, but I did drink it over a week when I was sick and I doubt I would have felt it.And yeah, it only lasted a week of daily brewing. It's too expensive as just a decent tasting warm beverage, the supposed health benefits aside.

It's like hot cocoa, for adults
I'm not a coffee drinker and haven't been one for 30 years. I miss it but never found anything that scratched that itch. This.is.amazing. It's NOT coffee, it doesn't taste like coffee (coffee beans taste like coffee, cacao beans taste like cacao), but it gives that coffee-experience albeit looking somewhat lighter than you would expect coffee to look. It has a really nice roasted flavor that coffee drinkers will recognize, but it's chocolate! I really enjoy a cup (or two) of Choffy with some peppermint creamer or maybe some hazelnut. It creates a great roasted chocolate flavor without the heavy, sickly-sweet experience that hot cocoa gives you. I can't stress how roasted the flavor is, in a very good way. You'll need to use a little more than you might be accustom to using when brewing (so says my coffee-aficionado sister), but the results are really good. I find the darker roasts to be more flavorful, which coffee drinkers may appreciate more. If you're not a coffee drinker but want to try this, maybe a lighter roast is for you.

Bitter chocolate is better than bitter coffee
Drinking coffee first thing in the morning can upset my stomach, and the taste of black coffee upsets my taste buds. I tried Choffy because I love chocolate and wanted something warm to drink on winter mornings. Went with Choffy because it was cheaper than Crio Bru; still never have had Crio Bru, so I can't compare. But I love Choffy! Tried it in a regular drip coffee maker with a paper filter (which the instructions say NOT to do), and it overflowed. Tried it in a Keurig mesh pod, and the taste was weak and meh. Tried it in a drip coffee maker with a gold mesh reusable filter, and it was great. I mix it with a little milk.If you're expecting a hot chocolate taste, you'll be *bitterly* disappointed. But I'd take black Choffy over black coffee any day (though I don't drink Choffy black, as mentioned above). I find myself craving it like I do solid dark chocolate. The biggest drawback to me is the cost. When I had a job that required me to wake up early, I drank Choffy every day as a splurge/survival strategy. Now I only drink it occasionally as a treat. I would drink it a lot more if it were the same price as coffee.

SORRY, NOT A FAN
Had high hopes for this, brews ok in my Keurig K cafe, but not getting any kind of chocolate flavor, in order to fix it, I add almond milk, stevia, 1/4 t mushroom coffee, blend it with tad xanthan gum to make it frothy, it then tastes fine, but on it's own not good imo, considering the very expensive price tag, would not buy again.

Expensive, tastes good, NOT for drip coffee makers
Saw this and thought I'd try it. It tastes good, but I'm not sure if I'll buy it again.1) Clogs: I've tried 3 different drip methods, ceramic filterless cup, stainless steel filterless cone, and Melitta cone with paper filter. Every one of them clogged up, perhaps because there's so much oil/fat plus grind is coarser/larger than coffee. I don't own a French press (recommended brewing method) and don't want to buy one. What has worked for me is to pour boiling water over the grounds in a large measuring cup, let it sit a few minutes to brew, then pour into the cup through a tea strainer. The mesh of the tea strainer is fine enough to filter out the grounds bu not so fine that it clogs.2. Expense: Instructions say to use 2 tablespoons (= 2 coffee scoops) per 6 oz cup, which is twice as much as you'd use for coffee. So, more expensive than coffee to start plus you use twice as much, making it slightly more than twice as expensive as coffee.3. Taste: It does taste very good -- with milk & sugar added it tastes like high-quality cocoa. And it smells wonderful when brewing.

Great value. Great product.
The best brewed cacao I have ever tried. Great value for the money. Not too dark but not light either. Blends well with coffee grounds. If you add milk and sugar, you get what is like a hot chocolate. Did not last long as it was that delicious. Be sure to use a mesh filter if you brew with an automatic drip machine.

Great
I ordered this because the other brand I had been getting is constantly out of stock. This one is really great. Good flavour! Not super strong though.

Excellent product!!
I normally purchase crio bru... but this was a better buy for what seemed to be a very similar product- so I gave it a try...It is excellent!! I add a couple scoops to my morning coffee grounds before brewing... it’s divine!! Not to mention all the health benefits of the cacao- I will be buying again for sure!! :-)Also- I got a sample bag with my purchase of a different roast... that was very nice-thank you Choffy!!

Delicious
Definitely nicer than coffee!

A nice treat.
Compared to my usual Ivory coast french roast. Volta french roast is stronger. Stronger chocolate notes, and more coffee notes. This one may be a bit too strong for me.
