I am an David hiker/backpacker who was also a car jacking victim, and always looking for personal legal protection since. I had pepper spray, but a podcast safety guy said if pepper spray is sprayed inside a car, tent, other enclosed spaces, it would be affecting me too, as well as intruder or attacker. So, the gel is better for that, and he also said spray it at a man’s crotch and it somehow will make a man fall to his knees as it will penetrate clothing.I bought two- one for the car, and one for my backpack. I am a rural mail carrier with lots of loose dogs in the neighborhoods I service. This is my 3rd purchase of this product. The manufacturer has improved the elastic around the top of the tube holder. This a bonus as the old style would get loose after extended use. No mist blowing back in your face. And it is ACCURATE!! Totally impressed with it's size, wearability, and performance. Will continue to buy as needed.

Bought this for a solo roadtrip on my motorcycle cross country. Never had to use it but I did test it out and it is accurate, goes a long distance, and packs a punch. Highly recommend. Fits in your pocket easy as well, and holds up very well.

Haven't had the opportunity to test it (yet?) Hopefully won't need to. But it seems well-made, and is highly recommended. So I'm having faith that it will work as expected when the need arises.

I read a review from an elderly gentleman who complained about there being no directions or legal statement about use of this prioduct, and he had no computer to read the PDF they sent him. If he reads this review, this may help somewhat. In ANY state, and especially New York, it is important to know your standing regarding self defense. This product qualifies as a non lethal form of defense, but use it ONLY when you need to stop an imminent violent threat. Gel is the best close in type of capsicum spray because it won't affect you in windy conditions, innocent people nearby. Merely, twist the red tab on top to disengage the safety, press the tab, and saturate the attackers eye and nose area. The gel has an orange color so you can see where it's going. Then, as he's blinded and possibly still moving toward you, STEP ASIDE out of the way! Get somewhere else fast, then call 911. 8 hope this helps those who were left in the dark about how it was supposed to work. This pearticar model, thr'Runner', is aimed at joggers and folks who want something that will fit in a pocket while walking in a parking lot for quick access. Just remember, it does you no good in the bottom of a purse. It is a high quality product built for high speed action into defense mode. It's designed not to leak after usage. I'm not 100% confident of its lock mode, since the actuating tab merely needs to be flicked to the right to unkilock it. If carried in a pocket, the tab could easily be pushed into armed mode accidentally, resulting in accidental discharge in a pocket or during retrieval from the pocket. I believe if 5he manufacturer put a small lip on the lock detent to hold it more securely, it would make this a 100% better product. It's already a great product and I recommend it to anyone who needs that extra bit security. It's what you need before escalating to deadly to force if you carry a gun.

Comes with a carry handle built in. Easy to use, lightweight. I like that this is gel, less spray back. The pink shell is cute.My small dog and I came across a very large dog on the trails we walk that was off leash and harness, who approached my dog crouching (low to the ground, focused on my dog) like a lion stalking prey in the wild. Seriously scary, for myself. His owner called him and he mostly ignored his owner. So spray is necessary in case it's needed for protection from dogs, wild animals or people. Gives me some peace of mind.

This works well to deter an attacking dog. I unfortunately had to use this product today as I was running and a large dog almost attacked me. Once I sprayed him, he immediately turned around and ran home. I’m so thankful I was prepared.
