Shea Butter, African, Raw, Unrefined (16 oz, Cold-pressed, Moisturizing, DIY for Whipped Body Butter, Facial Lotion and Cream, Lip Balm, Shampoo, Soap) - Anjou

First of all - I live in southern Arizona, and it's mid-July. I was worried that the shea butter was going melt and leak everywhere. It arrived in a box (of course), inside a plastic bag. The container had an inner seal, so it didn't leak at all - because the shea butter was completely melted due to the heat. I put it on the bathroom counter and it resolidified. If you've used pure shea butter before, you know it has a funky smell to it. This one smelled a little, but not nearly as strongly as others I've used. I suppose the smell could be described as nutty, as others have said; it's kind of earthy to me. In its solid state it is a little gritty, but it melts smoothly in your hands almost as soon as you touch it. I've used it as a mask in my hair and as post swim/sun moisturizer. It absorbed quickly and was greasy for a couple minutes, but became unnoticeable after that. Will buy again.

I ordered this after reading more about shea butter and realizing that it's better to use refined shea butter for making my own lotions. I've actually been kind of lazy so far and have used the butter straight out of the container and it's been amazing. It doesn't feel oily or grimy and it sort of melts in your fingers as you apply it. I might just end up using it plain.I can't use normal lotion due to the alcohol content in most as it makes my skin sting. I live in a very dry environment (Nevada desert) and shea butter feels good and doesn't cause my skin any pain. I had some issues with my hands especially drying out and it's been improving ever since I got this. I tried one other brand from a store before this and it has a pretty strong shea butter smell. This butter has a very muted smell and I actually quite like it.

Love this product. Started using it right out of the jar. Careful...use only a pea size! I've started adding a drop of other ingredients...sesbuckhorn oil, coconut oil, essential oils, even a drop of my perfume. Easily mixes in the palm of my hand. I live in a high desert climate. My skin has never been so healthy since I moved here. I keep it in the refrigerator as we have been hitting triple digits & I don't want it melting. It's easy to use, is going to last a long time, not oily & stays on the skin to give it an inner glow.

Great product. For those who have never used raw shea before, this is not like a body butter or lotion you buy at some mall store. Raw shea is very thick and sometimes grainy. You should place a blob of it in your hand to warm it up before applying.

Strong smell. The only reason I give this product 3 starts instead of 1 is bc the shea butter is in fact moisturizing. But the smell is so overbearing that I'd rather just use coconut oil or a lotion. I feel this moisturizes no more than castor or coconut oil. If you're really keen on using shea butter you'd better opt for a lotion with shea butter in it cuz this stuff stinks!

Product arrived nicely packaged and on time. This was my first time using any Shea Butter in a DIY moisturizing cream. I love the texture of the Shea Butter as it is easy to apply. So far it is a good moisturizer my type of skin (dry).

A great amount of product for a great price. I haven't used Shea butter before but I'm happy with it. It does not have a good smell though.. Pretty disgusting. A little goes a long way and mixed with some essential oils it makes a great lotion!

The Unrefined Shea Butter is very thick, but once you rub a small amount between your hands it melts and becomes easy to rub onto areas of your body. I like it because it lasts without being greasy. It makes the skin feel soft and smooth.
