Hyperkin RetroN 1 AV Gaming Console for NES (Hyper Beach) - NES

LOVE IT. Its sooo nice to be able to put an original NES cartridge in and it just fires up with zero issue. I bought a refurbished NES console from DKoldies and it did not work. Not only did it not work but the pins were so tight that it forced the pins on my Batman game into the case so hard that it broke it completely. I sent the console back and got one of these instead for $26!! Absolutely worth the money! I used to own a retron 5 and I hated it, it never worked right and had trouble reading most cartridges. Not the case with this model, works perfectly. I highly recommend it for anyone that wants to play their NES original cartridges without bothering with all the problems that come with the old consoles.

The first thing that caught my attention was the color scheme — it has that perfect retro vibe, and the small, compact size makes it easy to set up anywhere. I bought it mainly to play Punch-Out!! on a CRT television, and it works great for that. I was pleasantly surprised by the included controller. It not only looks cool but also feels high quality — honestly, I prefer it over the original Nintendo controller. The only downsides are that the controller cord is a bit short and the audio doesn’t perfectly match the original NES sound. Still, those are minor issues for the price. The graphics look great, and it plays all the games I want without any of the startup hassles from the old NES days — no blowing into cartridges required! Overall, this is an awesome, affordable retro option that delivers exactly what I was looking for.

Works on all my games so far! Finally I don't have to use my old NES which is always glitchy, can finally play all the old games! Just beat first round of Zelda.. oh my, second round is tough! :)

This works great as far as the visuals go, the video output is clear and vibrant, and on a crt tv, light gun games like Duck Hunt work! But this has the same problem a lot of similar models have which come from a faulty sound processor. Pitches are somewhat reversed, so high and low pitches come out sounding incorrect. I got the 2024 hardware refresh, this is not an issue on the original 2021 version (which is the version pictured) if the audio doesn’t matter to you this is fine.

Have to constantly load and reload to get games to work; most simply do not work. No sound. Box is light and resets if you touch it in the slightest. From the reviews, I thought this would at least get the job done and for a good price. The reviews may be misleading. This is a waste of money.

I did a review of this over on YouTube via my DirtCat gaming channel and I must say that this system is perfect for playing NES games on it! Emulates the sound and gameplay perfectly! I 'cheated' on getting stereo sound out of my clone system by placing a composite splitter into the sound outlet so that way sound can be heard coming out of both speakers on your television or headset so if you want to go that route like I did go for it as you'll need a Splitter Adapter 2 Female to 1 Male (very cheap here Amazon) for it to work. Can even do that with your original NES if you still have it or got one! Sad to say this is my second purchase as I accidentally fried my first system by accident for it was my own fault for doing so. Up before that it played everything like a champ! The only thing I wish that Hyperkin would do is give an HDMI option on this like their 5 in 1 system that is compatible with all external graphic cards for pixel perfect clarity.

I really like this console, works great, the picture on my TV looks clear. The only issue I had was that the controller's start and selected buttons don't work. However, I can use original NES controllers and that worked fine.

Tenía la esperanza q mínimo jalara, pero la verdad esq me sorprendio, pensé q sería de un plástico muy corriente y para nada, los controles se sienten masisos y los botones también se sienten bien, agarra los cartuchos al monento y sin problemas, una muy buena compra. Lo único malo esq nadamás trae el cable usb y no trae el cubito, pero pues le puse el de mi celular y listo.

O aparelho não estava tão bem embalado e não foi entregue na minha residência. Tive que perguntar para os vizinhos da rua, todavia, o aparelho cumpre bem a sua função, estou satisfeito.

We had an old original NES that finally kicked the bucket and this has been a more durable and reliable alternative to the original system. All of our games work well the first time, which is all you can ask.
