Great before and after photos, old times and today

This book has photos that illustrate the growth of Las Vegas in both the strip and downtown areas. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to take a trip down memory lane.

I ordered about 16 of these books for wedding gifts for my recent wedding. I really love the books and so did the guest. There are lots of pictures to show how Las Vegas has changed over time. I think most of the pictures are in black-and-white and look really authentic. And there is lots of information to tell about the story. They made really nice gifts for our Las Vegas wedding.The only reason I gave this a four star instead of a five star rating was because some of the books are bribed with slightly bent corners. It was a very small band and you couldn't really tell unless you were inspecting them closelyPerhaps the books should have been packaged a bit better or stored better before shipping. Of course, most people wont need to inspect the book so thoroughly

For anyone who likes Las Vegas, this is a real find. The photos alone, in the usual format of putting the vintage photo on the left page with the corresponding new photo on the right, is good enough, but wow, the text is really informative, with lots of great Vegas stories and lore. I confess I often skip over the text in photo books like this, but it's so much fun to read, without being overblown, wordy or filled with Vegas boosterism. The author really did her homework.When I bought this, the paperback version wasn't out yet, so I bought the hardback, and boy, I'm glad I did. The second edition has a sticker saying "completely updated and revised" and it isn't kidding. Some of the "now" photos look like they were taken yesterday.By far the best book on Vegas I've seen. You won't go wrong with this. (I know, the tone of this review sounds like I'm a shill. Get the book and you'll see that I'm not!)

This is the 2nd version of the book with all new photographs of the current places in Las Vegas. A great history to have in any personal library.

My brother turned 77 and I didnt know what to get him for a gift. He visits me in Vegas twice a year so I thought this book would give him a souvenir and background history of the city. He loved it.
