a book for everyone
I originally purchased this book with the intent to better understand what my loved ones who struggle with same sex attraction are going through and how to better support them. I got this and so much more! This book is really for everyone. I could relate to Carly's story in so many ways. I understood her action of comparing herself to others and finding herself lacking, her desire to fit in and find community, and finding herself feeling isolated from God because of the idols that she had built. Carly explains how God quietly pursued her during her same sex relationship and never left her side even during her darkest moments. Readers will come away feeling hope that God can heal them and remove the idols in their lives too whether that idol is a same sex relationship or something else . This book offers a raw, honest look at a life of sin but also the joy of redemption and every moment in-between. It's a must read!

Best Resource - Current - Actionable Content - Real, Authentic - Shares SSA Journey Expressively
Carly Hope expresses experiences, behaviors, conflicting thoughts, so authentically. The unfolding of events, opportunities that drew Carly in, the pull and excitement of temptation, giving in, the conflicting behaviors that did not pan out as expected and her long transition of exchanging lies as 'identity' and how that feign identity was leaking hope ultimately betraying her. Carly's stories are more than relatable and can be interwoven in other areas of struggle that actually impacted her decisions of Getting In and Out.. She lays out tangible and actionable tools, hidden thoughts, bents, scripture, support, warning signs, check points, to think twice. She lives out her last name: HOPE! Getting Out is by far the best resource for addressing Same Sex Attraction for anyone who is leaking hope and needs God's loving affirmation, affection and attention to Get Out, Get Healthy, Get God, Get Real, Get Actionable Content in one book. My life has forever changed!

A must read for anyone in ministry!
I'm a happily married heterosexual man and I can honestly say that this book is a profound read for anyone. Her story is compelling but how the book is written makes it totally unique. Her struggle is everyone's struggle. She openly shares her personal struggle but ultimately how God calls us, not to die to a particular sin, but to our self. The writing is excellent. The tone and pace of the book is just right. The mix of sound theology and simple teaching is perfect. But what I love the most was how God gave her the ability to replay each step of her challenges with a keen memory. It was like she could clearly remember the internal struggle at each key moment of her past.I could not recommend this book more. If there was a way to give it more than 5 stars I would gladly do it.

Powerful personal story
I really appreciated reading Carly's personal experience - it's so powerful. The different sections of the book and how she tells her story really helped me to understand and see how God was involved in her entire story. It is an encouraging, helpful read for basically anyone seeking to understand how God works individually with us to accomplish His will in the world, and how we are not truly alone, ever. Highly recommend!!

Victory is possible!
This is an incredible, raw story of how Carly fell into a same-sex relationship, got stuck, and got out, all by the grace of God. She boldly shares details of her inner turmoil and battle to return to God. Carly’s story testifies that God never gives up on us and that victory is possible. I found it powerfully relatable, applicable, and relevant for women struggling with same-sex attraction, or for any Christian struggling with sin.

A Must Read for Anyone in Ministry
Carly’s book, “Getting Out”, is a vulnerable, honest, raw, look inside her journey as a Christian woman experiencing thoughts and feelings she never imagined having, much less living. God’s pursuit of Carly’s heart is an inspiration and also a reminder to all Christians that you are never “to deep” in sin, for God to reach you. A must read whether or not you struggle with same sex attraction.

Challenging for all
I appreciated reading Getting Out and hearing Carly’s personal experience intertwined with strong theology. While same sex attraction has not been something I have personally experienced, I was still challenged to recognize my own sin and address it. This is a great read for anyone.
