My son made this for a scout merit badge and all the leaders were very impressed. Easy enough for an 11 year old with no experience.

The materials were excellent. The reeds were strong and pliable. They did not turn to mush with a lot of handling. Instructions were very complete. Plus, they give plenty of extras - so no worries if you make a mistake.

The reed is poor quality, which makes it harder to put together. The reed breaks when weaving. It’s rough and splintery and catches. But still a cute basket when done.

As a beginner this was a good starter project. The color is off from the picture in the listing, this is a bit misleading. Overall, I am happy with the result even though it is fuzzy and wonky. The instructions were difficult and not very clear for someone who has absolutely zero experience. I watched a few youtube videos that helped. I have learned from others more knowledgeable than myself that some instructions are completely incorrect. never soak your reeds more than a few mins it says 20 mins. It is also unclear on how to maintain tension and how to push the lines together. But it can be done. I suggest seeking out an experienced person or tutorials for more assistance. It would be nice if they had a video tutorial to help.

Good as a practice of technique and feel of material only. Overall poor quality reeds. Even when properly soaked it spintered.

Loved it! High quality! Easy to follow instructions and enough materials to finish it. An adult can easily make this. A kid can make it too but will need some assistance in pushing the reeds down as they weave if it is a younger kid. Great end result! Only need to soak the reeds for 5 minutes before starting.

This is a beautiful small basket which turned out exactly as pictured. The materials were very good quality with clear instructions. I am an experienced basket weaver but have not made any in a long time. I believe this kit would be suitable for beginners. It was a real pleasure for me. I plan to give this one as a gift and hope to make more.

A great little kit.. My first time trying to basket weave. Instructions were clear, materials good and plenty of them.. My Grandson used it just a few weeks ago to pick blueberries. Holds a little over a quart.
